5.0 out of 5 stars Massively Slept On
Latif's debut album "Love In The First" is probably one of the most slept on releases of 2003. His first single "I Don't Wanna Hurt You" tells a story about young love and the scary thought of settling down at a young age. The script flips a bit to the next song "Who's Lovin' Her Now" its kinda like the 2nd part to the 1st single he wonders if shes happy and who is loving...

The hot track "i dont wanna hurnt you" is the best track on the album and shows what latif is made of.

The highlights on the disc is definately track 4 "Without U" a beautiful interpretation of how much u realise how much some means to you when they're gone. Also track 11 stands out for me which could have easily been a single "Rain Will Go Away" its such a heart breaking song "Rain will go away/i pray you find someone else to take my place".

Latif has so much talent comparisons to Avant & Donell Jones are clearly evident let's hope he releases a sophomore CD

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST R&B I've Heard In Some Time..., October 3, 2005
This review is from: Love in the First (Audio CD)
Real Talk...this cd is by far the best r&b album i've heard in some years. If you liked Usher's Confessions album then you will definantly like this album because it is FAR BETTER. The lyrical content is mature and well written, the man has an amazing voice and the production is outstanding. As one person posted, Latif has been slept on in this industry and long-overdue. BUY THIS CD!!!!

Latif's first album "Love in the First" is an amazing album from top to bottom and it's a shame that it didn't get the promotion that it was due. God Bless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album. Definitely worth BUYING; SUPPORT REAL MUSIC, November 12, 2004

FYI: LATIF's NEW WEBSITE: www.coreywilliams.net

This is a great album that show great diversity, skills, and character. You can party with Latif's upbeat songs or you could also mellow out with a beautiful ballads.

There is a lot of content lyrically and musically in this album that is just straight up real and not the usual BS. Latif has moved from Motown Records to NextSelection (www.nextselection.net) which should add to more control on his music career.

Latif aka Corey Williams, is a Philly Native that is on the verge of some big things. All your faithful R&B, Neo-Soul, Hip Hop music lovers....support this album. Save REAL MUSIC.

2.0 out of 5 stars One hit wonder whose capable of better, January 8, 2007
This review is from: Love in the First (Audio CD)
Latif burst onto the scene with his great debut CD single, I Don't Wanna Hurt You. I Don't Wanna Hurt should've put Latif on the map but sadly it didn't. The rest of the CD is medicore R&B and I know Latif is better than this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Impressive, June 20, 2006
This review is from: Love in the First (Audio CD)
I don't know if I've been living under a rock for the last two years or if this album wasn't properly promoted but I am just hearing about this artist named Latif...I must say that I am pleasantly surprised by the songwriting and the vocal range of this very young new artist. He displays a consistency most R&B artists strive for. This album overall is a mellow groove, well-written and vocally impressive from beginning to end. The only thing I would change is the use of the "n"-word throughout...it just seems unnecessary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sleepin' on Latif, January 10, 2005
This review is from: Love in the First (Audio CD)
My friends got me turned on to Latif after I heard some of his singles in the car. People is sleepin' on this cat. He need to come back out on a different record label but put out the same record. Make Heavenly, Without You, Love In The First Singles Too. And what the hell, put out I Don't Wanna Hurt U again too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its good...cop it!, August 17, 2004
This review is from: Love in the First (Audio CD)
Love the cd! Not all the songs have good production but his lyrics make up for that. He's young but not dumb! Ol boy can sing!...well at least on the cd. I have never heard or seen him preform live so I couldn't tell you if he can really sing. But I can say he must have some kind of talent! But on the serious tip I think its sad that artist like him don't get the recognition they deserve. Yes he's young and that is exactly why his lyrics speak of his young adventures or young ordeals. I think because of this people pass him up...plus it seems to be now that anybody who has real talent is kicked to the curb! Music is so commercialized that its pathetic! Buy it people you'll love it! Support those who can and will bring real music back...not all this synthesized, electronically altered stuff! And no I'm not a hater, I listen to it too...I just prefer for those who are talented to get the same airplay and the same recognition! Those artist spend aloooot of time perfecting their music for us to hear and we brush it to the side cause its not hard or what everbody else is playing or listening to. Think about it people....think!!
