More About the Author

That's the byline on my author webpage, but what exactly does it mean? Granted, the 'time travel romance' bit is fairly straightforward: in my plots, I explore the romantic tension that ensues when one character is transported to a different time period and falls in love with someone who has a completely different set of social values pertaining to marriage, love, and, yes, even sex. And the 'karmic twist'? These characters have known and loved each other in a previous lifetime, but because of tragic circumstances, they were never able to find lasting happiness in that prior incarnation. Thank Cupid for time travel because they now have a second chance to right old wrongs, clear out all of the emotional baggage that tore them apart in the first place, and, finally, find the everlasting happiness that has eluded them over the ages.

My fascination with time travel began at an early age when I first read "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" and began fantasizing about traveling back in time to interact with figures from the past. As I grew older and my hormones kicked into high gear, I imagined myself jettisoning back in time and having, er, more intimate relationships with those same characters. As for reincarnation, I've had a lifelong interest in the subject, one which was firmly cemented when, under hypnosis, I was regressed to a lifetime that took place in 17th century France. To this day, I can still vividly recall the beautiful garlands of fresh flowers that decorated the bower where I was married. Sadly, it was a marriage that ended all too soon when my husband was killed in the Thirty Years' War, leaving me to spend the rest of that lifetime grieving his death. Believe me, if I could travel back in time, I would beg him not to go off to war. (Kinda obvious where my interest in fusing time travel and reincarnation came from, huh?)

So, if you've ever wondered what it would be like to travel through the portals of time, or to meet your kindred soul mate, I think you'll enjoy my Time Wanderer series. (And for those of you who have a taste for esoteric thrillers with a dash of romance, check out my series of books written under the pen name C.M. Palov.) I invite you to visit me at www.chloedouglasbooks.com, and I look forward to hearing from you!

I must admit that I had my doubts about this story. I’m skeptical about time travel and was a little hesitant to start the story but my doubts were without basis. This was a fun and romantic adventure.

Mick Giovanni is a homicide detective in New York City. He is a rough -around –the- edges -street –smart- tough guy. He is coming off a divorce and is very cynical about life. One day on the job a beautiful woman comes into the station. Miss Lettitia Merryweather is on a mission. She is in NYC for the exact purpose of finding Mick. The minute Mick lays eyes on Lettittia he knows that she is different but he doesn’t know just how different she is…

Lettitia is really from London from 1888. She was sent via a time travel device to find Nick. She was told that he would be the only one that can help her find her sister. After being cut off from her family when she ran off with a servant, Lettita’s sister is no longer welcomed in her family. Lettitia continues to have contact with her sister despite her family’s opposition and she realizes her sister is missing.

When Mick realizes that Lettitia has transported him to 1888 London is his shocked and furious. However, since the portal won’t open for a couple of more days he is stuck. When he realizes that Lettitia brough him for the purpose of finding her sister the detective in him can’t help but be intrigued. He becomes even more intrigued when he realizes that Jack the Ripper is being sought after. Mick begins to investigate the case of Lettitia’s missing sister and also keeps his ears out for the true Jack the Ripper.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Mick and Lettitia had great chemistry. They are perfect opposites. She is a proper English lady and he is a tough NYC cop.

I love a good time travel book, it is always interesting to see people interact in different settings and out of they own comfort zone. This is the start to a series that does just that, it takes a broken homicide detective and places him in another place where his usual tactics take some getting used to for a young lady in the 19th Century.

Mick Giovanni is with the Brooklyn police department, he recently lost his best friend and partner during a crime that he feels partly responsible for, so he buries himself in alcohol and work. He is angry when his boss calls his behavior erratic and makes him take a two week leave of absence, but before he can even walk out, he finds an unusual woman looking for him, wanting his help.

Miss Lettitia Merryweather comes to the police station looking for Mick; she is dressed like someone from a costume party but she does not care, all she wants is Mick’s help, and tricks him into walking into a portal sending them back to the 1880’s. Lettitia is worried about her sister Emmaline who is missing, unfortunately this is the same time that Jack the Ripper is ravaging the London area and as they investigate they become increasingly in danger, Mick identifies several suspects and much to Lettitia’s dismay they are well known to her, her father and her fiancé.

What an intriguing story, throw in traveling back to the time of Jack the Ripper and you have an interesting read that is full of mystery and danger.

I love that Mick is a homicide detective, a harden soul that did not want to be there, and his only interest is to be sent back to current times, but when he finds out he is stuck for seven days he decides he might as well try to solve one of history’s greatest mystery’s.

Not a bad time travel story, but the love/sex interest
should have been more balanced with the actual time travel tale.
A clear epilogue would have also been helpful
