5.0 out of 5 stars Do Your Soul A Favor
This CD is too hot,you have Brian McKnight, Joe, The Great Stephanie Mills, CeCe & Marvin Winans, and Mr Music himself Stevie Wonder, all mixing with BeBe to put out one of the best CD's of the year. They do a classic Stevie Wonder song that will just (puff) blow you away. BeBe Winans sings songs the way the soul like to hear them sung. Thanks BeBe, job well done!

3.0 out of 5 stars It Is Okay....
I think this is an overall "good" album, although I found it to be a little disappointing. God's name is rarely mentioned throughout the whole thing, except on "Jesus Children of America." Sure I know who he's singing about, but others might not. Eventhough this isn't one of my favorites, he still has a beautiful voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars A spiritual treasure, September 20, 2000

This review is from: Love & Freedom (Audio CD)
I have been a Winans Family fan since the early 80's. This is Bebe's greatest accomplishment. This is not a formula project, but a beautiful mix of sensitive music to speak to any occasion. I recently played it for my parents 50th anniversary celebration, it was amazing how it was enjoyed by 4 generations at the party.

5.0 out of 5 stars Go On BeBe!, October 10, 2000
This review is from: Love & Freedom (Audio CD)
Love & Freedom is one of my favorite CD's right now. I had no idea BeBe was going to bring it on like this. I bought the CD for Track #2 Home, featuring Brian McKnight and Joe. But as I listened to track after track every song became my jam. My ultimate favorites are Track #8 My Heart and Track#9 Tonight, Tonight.

I love this CD because it is about love but if you are rooted in the Word you can see BeBe is singing about having an intimate relationship with Christ, and that is why I like #8 and #9. Your Love my Heart is saying that in exchange for God's love all he wants is out Heart. That is why he loved David so because David was a man after God's own heart. Tonight Tonight is my other favorite because BeBe is welcoming the presence of the Lord by saying, "Tonight, tonight, I want to see you tonight..."

Well done BeBe!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buying It For My Friends, June 22, 2001
This review is from: Love & Freedom (Audio CD)
I loved this CD so much that I am buying several more copies for some of my family and friends. This is easy to listen to. Great songs, great arrangements and wonderful vocals. Getting music that young people will listen to is something I feel more of the gospel vocalists should focus on. If you don't think that is important - just look at the absence of young people in church. A lot of us go to church as youngsters because we are forced to go. But as soon as we are old enough - we stop. Why? Because the churches ignore the young people and are not open minded about what it might take to get a young person to really want to attend. Often I feel that the gospel industry has laid one track, gotten one choir and records every release to that track. This CD has smooth sounds that even people who "turn off" gospel music will listen to. Glad someone recognizes that there can be more than hooping and hollering to praise the Lord. Bebe, Brian, Joe, Stevie - thank you! You have taken your craft to a new level. One that can get the attention of those "hard-to-reach audiences. My teenage and younger grandchildren are singing these lyrics. Thank you!

5.0 out of 5 stars BeBe at his best!!!, October 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Love & Freedom (Audio CD)
I absolutely LOVE this recording! I knew it would be great. I put in an advance order for it before I'd even heard a single cut, and I wasn't disappointed. BeBe's voice is so incredible and he has great vocals here. The fact that I'm a huge Brian McKnight fan makes this album even greater in my opinion. I love "Coming Back Home" by BeBe, Brian, and Joe. It's my favorite cut on this album. The reunion of BeBe and CeCe on this recording is a wonderful listening experience as well. The entire album is great! It'll put you in a praise and worship mood, if that's what you're looking for, but it carries that famous hint of "love music" that BeBe is known for. This is a well rounded album featuring some of the greatest voices in gospel and secular music. I also loved Marvin Winans, Stephanie Mills and Stevie Wonder's appearance on this release. Great work, BeBe!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Yet!, September 12, 2000
This review is from: Love & Freedom (Audio CD)
This is clearly Bebe's best effort yet. The duets with Stephanie Mills, Brian Mcknight & Joe, Cece Winans and Stevie Wonder showcase his ability to hang with the best singers out there. The music is beautiful, the lyrics uplifting, and the arrangements are wonderful. This one is a classic!

5.0 out of 5 stars BeBe At His Best..., March 26, 2001

Through many dangers, toils and snares he has already come, and it's been a long time coming but BeBe Winans is back and better than ever. His first released single "Coming Back Home", which features secular crooners Brian McKnight and Joe has raised up the Christian public's age old question about BeBe Winans... Is BeBe too secular? Personally I think that this is a silly and meaningless argument and that BeBe's relationship with God is between him and God, but I can't say I don't see where they're coming from. But, leaving that issue aside this album is BeBe's best!

The album starts off with the title track "Love And Freedom", a smooth yet rousing track that'll take you from sadness into bliss. The song is also highlighted by BeBe's out-of-this-world vocals. The album then continues into it's first single "Coming Back Home", which features secular crooners Brian McKnight and Joe and is about coming back to God, even though they don't say his name. Then there's the bumpin' "What About It" and the smooth velvety "I'm In Love With You", which features background from the Gospel boy band, The Katinas. Then there's the thought provoking "How Do We" the hot "Everything To Me", another one that shows off those phenomenal vocals. After that is "Everyday" a collaboration with Stephanie Mills, who's straddling the Gospel secular fence once again for the millionth time, "My Heart", produced by Warryn 'Babi Dubb' Campbell, a hot track, with hot background from Winans and Joi Campbell, but seems a little tame for Campbell's producing style. Then there's what we've all really been waiting for, the BeBe & CeCe Winans reunion on "Tonight Tonight", which is one of their best songs ever, together or apart. Then that 'Thank You', dance hall vibe is exhibited on track 10, "Brand New Dance", produced by Louie Vega and Kenny 'Dope'. After that is 'the' BeBe ballad of the album "For The Rest Of My Life", which can be about God or whoever you want 'you' to be. To end is the highly publicized collaboration with Stevie Wonder, redoing Stevie Wonder's "Jesus, Children Of America", which won instant acclaim after they performed it on The Oprah Winfrey Show. To end the album is a remake of Donnie McClurkin's "Stand", a song that we are all tired of, but still was good.

This album is hot! And shows all male contemporary Gospel soloists, what they should all aim to sound like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bebe Lifts Jesus Christ up where HE belongs!, August 2, 2001
By
This review is from: Love & Freedom (Audio CD)
This CD was on my computer for a solid week! Each time I play it, I play straight through. Love and Freedom continues the Winas' family tradition of taking Jesus Christ out of the church and into the world. For that very reason,I must caution gospel traditionist,"Give Me that Old Time Religion" is NOT on this CD. Stevie Wonder,Joe,Brian McKnight, are all on "I'm Coming Home." The CD also features his sister,Cece one song and Stephanie Mills on another. This is an excellent CD,to give to a newlywed Christian couple for their honeymoon, they can celebrate their love for Jesus Christ and each other at the same time. The best selection is the Donnie McClurkin composition "Stand". There's also Stevie Wonder's "Jesus Children Of America" featuring Stevie Wonder. My only frustration with the CD is that the best cuts are the last ones.
