5.0 out of 5 stars Love The CD!, March 28, 2001
By
This review is from: Love the Game (Audio CD)
Debbie Davies is more than an exceptional guitarist she is also a prolific songwriter and performer releasing her 8th CD in 8 years with 13 new original tunes. One can only sustain such a pace if they truly "Love The Game" and it is clear that Davies does just that.

"Love The Game" is Davies finest release since the 1999 release of "Tales From the Austin Motel". Prior to that, she hasn't released a CD of this quality since her debut CD in 1993, "Picture This".

On this disc, Davies playing is dead on and the lyrics are well composed. Check out "Fired Up" an instrumental that would be equally at home on any Albert Collins CD or the Bonnie Raitt sounding "I'm Just Your Fool". If there is a clunker on this disc, it would be the nonsensical "Funky Little Teapot".

This CD should please most blues fans and keep Davies fans satisfied for the next 18 months or until her next release.

I just bout this gem,and i must say it is great.Debbies guitar playing is fantastic, and the song writing is great, also funny in some songs.Debbie has some guitar licks that sound alot like SRV, and Albert Collins, which she worked with.Buy This C.D.and if you have a little more dough, get tales from austin, with the great SRV's rhythm section.Enjoy Peace, Out...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing CD!!, July 20, 2004
This review is from: Love the Game (Audio CD)
I love this CD, it is just one great song after the other. The band is extremely tight, they play so well together! I love all the songs and I have to strongly disagree with "deepbluereview" I think "Funky Little Teapot" is the best song on the CD. It is fun, witty and has a great melody. Plus, heck, it is a song about a teapot, how cool is that! Of course it makes me want to see this teapot which I heard really does exist:) I also love the song, "Can't Live Like This No More" is has an infectious bass line that totally rocks and as good as it is on the CD it is amazing live!! Bottom line, this CD is amazing and I highly recommend it to fans of the blues as well as non-blues fans!!

If you like Debbie then you will like this because it's classic Debbie. Saw her live Saturday night (6/23/01) and chatted with her briefly. She was giving advice to a young teenage guitar player and giving him tips.
