Basil, you did it again! The score just says baseball upon listening to it! It is such a beautiful score that in the tradition of Field of Dreams! I thought the movie was wonderful of cource, but the score was a major part in that dicision field! I recomend this to anyone! I just love to play the theme on the piano! It's great! Buy it today!

Basil Poledouris came up with a beautiful haunting score. This score has already been used by professional sports broadcasts on tv from the end of the baseball season for the Chicago Cubs last fall to the AT&T Pro-Am at Pebble Beach last February. The CD brings back all the moments from the movie...drama and emotion. Although the cd is a little short in length, part of that is due to the fact you don't want it to end. You won't go wrong with this soundtrack!

This one's great. Another beautiful score from Basil, one in which he branches out a little, introducing the occasional electric guitar (only occasionally - doesn't overwhelm) and gets a little R&B track in as well. But his trademarks are still there: beautiful melodies and a strong sense of the epic - somehow he manages to mix a sense of gentleness with a sense of underlying, almost archetypal strength in so many of his scores. Thoroughly enjoyable. Although, as with most scores these days, the CD is a little short timewise.

Wow! What a treat. When I first picked up this soundtrack, I didn't pay it much mind. Then it started to grow on me and now it's one of my favorites. Even though the music is aimed at baseball, try listening to the closing theme while standing at the rim of the Grand Canyon. Knocked my socks off!

If nothing else, the opening theme is something to behold and well worth the price of the CD. Buy it now!

This CD has absolutely great music - it's the "Score" from the music as anyone can tell if they look at the selections. I have the other CD with the songs from it too, and I rate them BOTH 5 stars! They're different, but each one is great in its own way. I wasn't disappointed in the least!

I drove thru Colorado under and about the Rockies last weekend after buying this score. It is definitely NOT a baseball movie score, but a western as I drove thru red canyons sweeping up hundreds of feet along the highway and miles of vast prairie land. You imagine cowboys and cattle drives. Love, love this score, espcially cuts #1, 6,8,9, and 10. Only complaint, #10 was the finale and filled with the most Heavenly choir imaginable, but they introduced an electric guitar into the mix. Pretty much like drinking lemonade after a bowl of ice cream. Other than that, a superb score and I'll be looking up Mr. Poledouris's other scores to buy.

This movie score is exceptional as it hits a perfect theme for each sequence of events. It has a poetic flow linked to the action on the field and the romantic story line away from it. I'm not a music expert by any means, but I know what sounds good and this music sounds great! For those of us who truly LOVE THE GAME, you will find yourself rooting for Billy Chapel to pitch his "perfect game" and to win his soulmate. The emotional crescendos are enough to make any tough athlete get choked up. A standing ovation, for sure.

I ordered the incorrect cd - it turned out to be good listening music and I have it playing while I am painting on my portraits

MISSING from this CD is the score for what is perhaps the movie's climax: Scarecrow's potential homerun snatched out of the air by Mickey Hart.

I haven't been this disappointed in a score since Luke's-hand-being-chopped-off was left off "The Empire Strikes Back."

Who makes these decisions?

Don't confuse the "Original Motion Picture Score" with the "Original Motion Picture SOUNDTRACK". If you are interested in hearing the music and artists you heard in the movie. DON'T BUY IT!
