5.0 out of 5 stars EXELLENT ~~~ Works Exceptionally Well
This is a well made product with a soft rubberized pad on the palm and another smaller one on the thumb. There are 100+ or so small 1/4 inch nubs sticking out of these pads. The glove itself is a sturdy flexible nylon mesh material. There is a elastic wrist band with a adjustable velcro strap. I have a fairly large hand and the glove is a perfect fit. If you have a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Glove, Cat HATES It
Well, I wish I could give this a higher rating, because it seems to be made well and works at pulling excess fur off, but my small shorthaired cat absolutely HATES AND DESPISES this glove.

I started out letting her rub against it, like she does with the old hairbrush that is her standard grooming tool, and immediately she jerked back and I got the "WTF?!?" look...

If you have a smaller hand the slack can be taken up by the velcro strap. Check out my photos under Customer Images on the product page.

I use this in tandem with my Cat Zoom Groom - Assorted Colors brush. The Cat Zoom seems to work better getting the deep down hair out. And this one cleans up after that brush and gets most of the loose hair that's left.

This glove will clean up fairly easy if there is a lot of hair on it. All you have to do is start peeling one end, and the rest will peel off in one sheet of hair. A bit harder if there is only a small amount of hair on the glove. It can be washed off with a hose outside, that worked for me.

Forgot to mention, Kitty loves it. He even comes back for seconds which is unusual for him. Our new little girl shelter kitten "Baby" loves it also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect grooming item, April 27, 2010

My cats don't love being brushed, and this glove is just the thing. They love being petted, and if I pet them while wearing this glove, loose fur comes off readily. The first time I used it on my cat Ellie, I felt like I'd removed enough fur to make another cat. Ollie, who is more prone to overstimulation, can only tolerate a minute or so, but even that is very effective at removing loose fur. I highly recommend this product!

Well, I wish I could give this a higher rating, because it seems to be made well and works at pulling excess fur off, but my small shorthaired cat absolutely HATES AND DESPISES this glove.

I started out letting her rub against it, like she does with the old hairbrush that is her standard grooming tool, and immediately she jerked back and I got the "WTF?!?" look from her. I started lightly and gently pulling it down her back, and she cringed away from it like I was trying to comb her with a glove covered with needles. It did manage to pull off a decent amount of hair, but when she started howling, I knew it was all over for the "Love Glove." For my cat, it was more like the "Hate You With The Fiery Passion of a Thousand Flaming Suns Glove." If your cat is at all delicate or sensitive, like mine, it might not like this glove, I think the rubbery 'nubs' are a little too hard for some cats. I'm going to send it to my Aunt, whose cat is much bigger and has a thicker coat, she's used these types of gloves before so perhaps she'll have better luck with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love your cats with the love glove, November 17, 2010

I have a cat that sheds. The cat does not like brushing, at all, so I decided to to try this.

I can't say the cat likes it, because she tries to get away, but she does not try real hard, and she does not protest like she did with brushes.

It works very well for removing lose fur, so I consider it a keeper.

The glove works well although my cat is not sure she loves it. My only complaint is that it is too big for my hand and I did not see it available in a smaller size.

4.0 out of 5 stars tolerated by my comb-hating cat, September 9, 2011

This review is from: Love Glove Grooming Mitt for Cats (Misc.)
I'm a foster mom for cats and so I have what I think is a larger than normal stock of toys and scratch pads and brushes since I have to go through trial and error with each new cat.

I've been fortunate enough in the grooming department since all the cats have either tolerated/liked the Furminator or didn't really need it.

That was until Cory the Maine Coon mix, who both needed it and hated it. He came to me with matted fur and he was my first medium-long hair cat. I got a slicker, a comb, and the Zoom Groom. I got the mats out eventually (which is hard enough if a cat is laid back!), but I'd have to chase him around wearing an oven mitt to protect my hands and forearm from the attacks from the otherwise gentle senior cat. I ordered the Love Glove thinking at the very least, I could use it as armor like the oven mitt was, and retire the oven mitt back to the kitchen.

I wouldn't say Cory loves the Love Glove, but it doesn't trigger the claws and teeth! If I use it gently enough and distract him with chin rubs with my other hand, he doesn't mind it much. It's not amazing...i.e. not a miracle fur harvester, but definitely, much definitely, better than the circus I used to have to go through. It's at least the amount of fur that just flies off of a cat when you pet it but instead of going into the air and landing wherever else, it stays on the mitt.

TL;DR - works for grooming my otherwise assisted grooming averse cat

And I agree with other reviewers...I wish there was a lefty one!

UPDATE - A new foster cat, a new experience! This one doesn't really have an issue with the brush, except that he wants to rub on everything and it's really hard to actually brush his fur without him chin rubbing the brush excessively first. The Love Glove he doesn't go after as much since he wants the pets to continue, so I can actually get some grooming done. :) He still tries to get his face up all in it, but at least it's soft and controlled by your hand...he sometimes rubs too hard and his chin raw.
Also in the drier months, I like to spray the the glove with a little bit of water and then give him a good pat down. The static gets battled, and it picks up the fur a little easier.

I have a long-haired cat who gets a lot of mats and has constant hairballs, but he can't deal with brushing or combing of any kind. He gets overstimulated and goes into excited attack mode, usually leaving me with 3% less skin and blood than I had before grooming him. I hesitantly bought this thinking he might tolerate it a bit better--I was right! He loves it! He goes into a full-on drooling trance and will stand there as long as I want to use it on him. In five minutes, I got enough hair off of him to make a second cat, and it even got rid of the matted area on his lower back that he wouldn't even let me touch before. Couldn't recommend this more highly!

I have used this mitt on my cat and dog and it works wonderfully! The first time I used this on my cat the amount of hair I removed was truly amazing! She loved it too! Absolutely no complaints, it works!

I have 5 cats and 3 of them do not like to get brushed with a regular pet brush. With The Love Glove Grooming Mitt for Cats, I can easily get rid of all extra hair on them without them even knowing it - they just think I'm petting them! I highly recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, but not right for all cats..., July 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Love Glove Grooming Mitt for Cats (Misc.)
I have two cats, neither of which allow us to brush them or get near them with this. We bought this hoping that if they think they are getting petted, that they would allow us... not so much... they would always get very angry when we tried to use this on them and so it got shelved pretty fast, it may work for some cats great and others will hate it, kinda hit or miss based on the cat, the product is awesome, just wish we could use it more...
