More About the Author

Author Amy Matayo is an excellent speaker, mathematician, seamstress, chef...and liar. She's decent at writing books but not much else. Then again, the book thing makes her marginally cool and a whole lot intimidating.

Not really. Not even her kids are afraid of her.

She graduated with barely passing grades from John Brown University with a degree in Journalism. But she's proud of that degree and all the ways she hasn't put it to good use.

She laughs often, cries easily, feels deeply, and loves hard. She lives in Arkansas with her husband and four kids and is working on her next novel.

I’ve been looking forward to this one ever since I finished The Wedding Game. It didn’t disappoint, I was quickly engaged in the story and rooting for Jay and Anna. I liked both Anna and Jay and it was fun watching them fall in love. They do so under some pretty dire circumstances and will probably make their relationship stronger in the long run. I thought the setting was fun, although I wouldn’t go rushing off to Alaska any time soon. I was surprised by how much time they were actually alone during the filming of the show; I guess I was expecting more of a Survivor type setting (only in freezing Alaska). As in most of these type stories there are some obstacles for the couple to overcome. It was a tad frustrating; I wanted to shake Anna a few times. I understood her though; I got how she couldn’t or wouldn’t want to disappoint her family. It’s a lot easier said than done and her behavior and choices seemed realistic. I was happy with how everything worked out.

Overall, a super fun read. Ms. Matayo is quickly becoming an auto-buy author for me! Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Romance: Clean, a few passionate kissing and very mild innuendo
Language: Can’t remember any, if there was it was mild

I loved Ms Matayo's other "Reality Show" book. I mean loved it! So much so that I immediately ordered this one. This one did not do it for me at all. Where do I start? First, the editing was really bad. There were several areas with asterisks in front of them. Were these new chapters? New paragraphs? A different section? I don't know, but they were distracting. As were the quotation marks randomly placed. Now, if the story is great, I can certainly overlook editing errors. This story was not great. It didn't even rank as good. The hero, Jay, hints at some childhood trauma. However, we never find out what that is. He is 24 and apparently worked on ATT Stadium as one of the leads? Or he works for the company that built it? It's never clear. Making him 18 or 19 and in charge?? OK, so I can overlook that too. But Anna, our heroine. Her character is very inconsistent and I didn't like her. Why does she keep nudging, shoving, pushing Jay? Can someone explain why they are put in the wilderness without a first aid kit? In the beginning, we are told they are strapped with Go-Pro cameras. However, never again does that come into play, and there are plenty of times I could see it being important information. So many times, I went back and read whole sections as I felt I missed some key information. Perhaps whole paragraphs got missed. For example, they were stuck in a cave and a tree fell, blocking them in. They are using a pocketknife to cut themselves out. Then suddenly they are back at camp. Wait, what? How did they get out of there? Jay speaks to Heidi, who is apparently supposed to be the "evil" woman in this story. Yet we don't know what they say, what happens. They go on a date at one point and what happened there is never discussed.Read more ›

This is Amy Matayo’s second book in her “Reality Show” series. We meet Anna when she’s “disappointing” her parents again because she has been rejected from law school. For her, disappointing her parents is a rule of thumb, not the exception. And her father is thinking of running for President! Just so she won’t disappoint him again, he’s got a groom picked out for her—and a wedding date.

So, Anna decides to have one last adventure before the wedding and sets her sights on an Alaska Reality Show. As the group arrives in Alaska to begin the challenge, Jay Maddox recognizes who she is and can’t help but think she’s the token celebrity and will be worthless in the wild. He’s hoping he doesn’t get “saddled” with her, but you know he will.

The two of them wind up together in a trial to see which couple makes it to the end of a month long survival trek without calling for rescue. The obstacles Anna and Jay overcome, their continuing banter, and of course, their falling in love make up the story.
Even if they do win the challenge, Anna’s fiancé and parents will be waiting at the end with more difficulties to overcome.

Matayo is good with the banter, with developing character and making us laugh. The book is a fun read.

I had a little trouble with the Reality Show format—that they would send strangers off as a couple into the wilds of Alaska and by the amount of time this couple were left alone. They seriously might have died two or three times. Another reviewer mentioned the amount of kissing which I was fine with. One rather explicit dream did throw me a little.

All in all, a good book following The Wedding Game. And Alaska is a great state to “see” by book. J If you are a reality show fan, you will doubly like it.

This is the second book I've read by Amy Matayo, it was just as captivating as the first, if not more!!
Love Gone Wild is a fun, light, entertaining novel about a reality show trip though Alaska. The main characters Anna and Jay, both a little troubled in their own way, get coupled together with nothing much in the way of supplies. Their journey is all you would hope it to be. I laughed, I cried, I got completely invested in their budding relationship...all the while feeling the increase in anxiety of what will happen at the end of the show...when you just know the cheating fiance and the controlling parents will have SOMETHING to say about Anna's new found love. SO good. Highly recommend this book as well as this author. I truly enjoyed it!
