This is one of those movies that the men in my family refer to as the "Hallmark formula". The successful young woman is on the career fast-track and is paired up with a man that is the same. Something life-changing occurs and the woman realizes she wants something (really someone) different, and luckily that something different is close at hand.
Grace is a very workoholic author of "how-to" books. She works in the same office with her best friend, who is being married at the opening of the movie. Grace, who rarely has time for their friendship anymore, is her maid of honor. When Graces' apartment catches fire she is rescued by a recently suspended firefighter, Steve, who seems to have a death wish since his own wife died. He just happens to be passing by her place when the fire is getting out of control. Grace's second chance at life gives her a fresh perspective and it spills over in gratitude to the firefighter who saved her. There are barriers between them, however. He still wears his wedding ring and barely goes through the motions of living, and she sports a flashy engagement ring. She makes an awkward attempt to help him by setting him up with a coworker, but eventually does help him start to find pleasure in living again. He also helps her find joy in serving in a local soup kitchen, and in donating proceeds from her next book (a cookbook of the firefighter's gourmet recipes) to help the kitchen survive. It is very predictable, but that doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable. It is pretty clean. There is one very low neckline, two incidents of profanity and one common swear word. The main characters are storybook good looking, and comic relief is provided by Steve's brother Frank.

This is a great movie. There is no suggestive dialogue, language, violence or sex scenes. Grace (Chandra West) writes How To Books, Mark Consuelos is a Fire Firefighter and Corbin Brensen is Chief of Firehouse 22. The firefighters when they aren't fighting fires or saving peoples lives cook gourmet meals. An off duty firefighter walks by Grace's house that is on fire. He saves her life. The next time that Hallmark airs this movie is January 24, 2010 at 7 pm, Feb. 13 at 3 pm and Feb 28 at 1 am. You will not be disappointed.

I love hallmark movies and this one is moving to the top of my list of favorites.
This movie was made well, the story is solid with side stories between brothers, coworkers etc...All of the actors did a great job. I really wish moviemakers would watch more movies like this and take notice that there's no need for graphic violence, profanity, and explicit scenes to make a quality film.

"For the Love of Grace," is a wonderful family film from Hallmark. The actors are great in their performances and it does not surround a holiday. It is a life style film about forgiveness and finding love in where you least expect it. This what I want from Hallmark. A must see film.

This is the best movie I have ever seen. There is romance and excitement in it. Mark Consuelos plays the part of a fireman. He is the best looking man I have ever seen. Chandra West is a writer. You will not be sorry if you buy this movie. I have it, and I will never part with it.

Thanks amazon.com for making this movie available. Very sweet story and very clean family movie. Watched with my granddaughter and her boyfriend and there was not one moment when any of us were uncomfortable. We need more movies with good family values.

Surprisingly Good Romance with a Touch of Humor,

Yes, these Hallmark love stories can be quite predictable and overly sugary. This one, I felt started somewhat slow but then develops into a very pleasant, interesting, relationship story.
It's not really a romantic comedy where the main players initially can't stand each other or have a misunderstanding for the first half of the movie, and/or there's a gimmick, e.g., they have to pretend to be married for some special event even though they 'hate' each other. There's no problem with that, but this one simply stresses the interactions between decent people. Plus, even though there is comedy here, it's light and non-obtrusive. Briefly: two people both with deep hurts cross paths, so to speak. One's a fireman(Mark Consuelos), not wanting anything to do with finding a relationship, saves the other, a successful, apparently happily, engaged, businesswoman(Chandra West), from a fire. She, in turn, reaches out to him in thanks and in a way rescues him, too. All the characters come across nice and supportive in there own ways. There's no mean people here like a back stabbing ex-friend or a creepy fiance. There just different people with different needs. And the leads go through a wonderfully, warm process of self(and of course, of each other) discovery and growth. The ending offers the possibility of one of those frantic, crazy finales, but then turns quite reasonable and sensible. All's well that ends well. And this one does. If you're in need of something more gritty or less certain, seek other fair to watch, this is pure romantic escapism. Mark Consuelos born in Zaragoza, Spain is married in real life to Kelly Ripa both from All My Children fame, and Chandra West, born in Canada, performed recently in The Gates. They're both charming and work well together. Corbin Bernson plays the tough but sympathetic fire captain.

I viewed this movie on the Hallmark channel and liked it so much that I purchased a copy as soon as one was available. I would recommend this movie as a good family movie.
