Recommendation of the Month This lively and heart-felt collection of poetry is a perfect way to explore the turbulent world of love and relationships. The three sections - love, hate and my best mate - cover a huge spectrum of experiences and feelings. There are lyrical pieces alongside text-message sonnets and hauntingly sad poems juxtaposed with in-your-face humour. From Brian Patten to Robert Burns and Roger Stevens to Shakespeare, this unique anthology combines old favourites and new voices. All the ups and downs of love and friendship are to be found in its pages. For 10+ years. -- Young Scottish Poetry Library Website 20040601 A mixed bag full of admiration, betrayal, deception and a very good description of life as an adolescent. -- Cork Evening Echo 20060304 A very effective mix of old and new... The modern and classic are often juxtaposed in striking ways ... Well-produced visually... Highly recommended for KS3 readers, both for use in English and PSHE. -- School Librarian 20040601 A totally now anthology in which Shelley, Marvell, year 9 from a Shropshire school and many others all rub shoulders slipping together with apparent ease in a programme by turns provocative, thoughtful and funny. -- The School Librarian 20050501 From elation to hopeless gloom in seconds, the opening poems in this excellent anthology for teenagers depict first love from both the male and the female viewpoint. The poems are presented in three strands, so a variety of poets from past and present are encountered together as they explore the main theme of the ups and downs of a growing emotional life. -- Bookfest 2005-2006 20050501 The concept of the book was appealing as it looks at life in almost every aspect... The most enjoyable poems are the parodies. They were hilarious. i actually laughed out loud at one of them... The Love section was filled with poems by William Shakespeare, which were very beautiful... I read a poem by Spike Milligan over and over again. It was so touching, I nearly cried... If you read this book you are getting a mixed bag full of admiration, betrayal, deception and a very good description of life as an adolescent. -- International Press-Cutting Bureau, review from Cork Evening Echo 20060304

'Thank you so much for the brilliantly entertaining Ravenwood performances you gave at Bolton Library. As booksellers we host a lot of children's author events but agreed that yours was the best we've ever seen. Stella Morris and Debe Conway, Sweetens Bookshop'

'Andrew Peters made a dramatic impact on us all when he visited. He played didgeridoo and mesmerised us with his engaging retelling of episodes within Ravenwood. He was utterly captivating and copies in the library have been flying off the shelves.' Roseanne Pugh, Headteacher, Onny CE Primary School

'This fantasy adventure has a wonderfully original setting - a mile-high treetop society in the last forest of the future. But it's a world under threat from evil outside influences who want Ravenwood's natural resources. It's humorously told at a cracking pace, exploring deeper themes of ecology, conservation and power.' The Bookseller.

'This is a powerful fantasy adventure fuelled by an eerie magic written by a dramatic storyteller. Magic, mystery and adventure are tightly fused in this thrilling and original drama. It's lyrical and thought-provoking, whilst being hugely enjoyable.'
Julia Eccleshare, Lovereading4kids

'An action-packed adventure story set in the branches of giant trees; a meticulously imagined civilisation with its own religion and myths; political treachery and intrigue; heroism, and battles to the death: all are features of Andrew Peters' new novel Ravenwood. No wonder then that it is being described as an epic.' Books For Keeps
