3.0 out of 5 stars Sloppy writing
The book is mildly entertaining. The two main characters are interesting and likeable, although the plot lacks the dramatic energy to really keep the reader engaged. The element of suspense is simply not strong enough for the genre. One of my primary frustrations is that the author does not understand the concept of point of view (and apparently neither does her editor)...

I enjoyed all three of the books in this series, but the 3rd
book, Love & Honor, was absolutely terrific. The first two books built the groundwork, and this book carried the two main characters' relationship to a strong feeling of permanence. The physical part of their relationship was nothing short of STEAMY, HOT and ADDICTIVE. But, the emotional part was what kept me turning the pages. I couldn't put this book down. Adding the intrigue of the events they encountered, made this book one of the best I've read. Radclyffe continues to give us strong characters, sensual material, and a thirst for more of her books!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love & Honor, April 18, 2003

Love & Honor, the third book in the Honor Series was hard to put down. I was hooked after reading the first couple of pages. The character development is strong, the writing is tight. Cam and Blair, the two main characters, compliment each other beautifully. They are both strong, independent women who are passionate about their beliefs, but at the same time have a soft side that shows compassion and vulnerability. The security team forms a very tight bond and a fierce loyalty to each other, their chief and the woman they have vowed to protect. This bond strengthens as the story progresses into a race against time.
This is Radclyffe at her best; action, intrigue and romance. This story easily stands on its own, but if you haven't read the first two books in this series, Above All, Honor and Honor Bound you are missing out on a wonderful reading experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love and Honor and Passion and Intrigue and..., February 9, 2006

This series gets better with each new book. I generally enjoy Radclyffe's writing, but believe this series is her best. Secret Service Agent Cameron Roberts starts out this one reviewing her actions during the attack on her protectee, First Daughter Blair Powel, during the fiasco at the end of 'Honor Bound.'

Cam and Blair are truly lovers by this book, but they are careful with their new relationship, especially when it comes to others finding out. However, they have no choice but to come clean when Blair begins receiving intimate photos and she is featured in the newspaper in a picture that shows her in an intimate embrace with another woman. White House Chief of Staff, Lucinda Washburn is livid about this turn of events. The President is supportive of his daughter and seems to genuinely like Cam.

Cam works with FBI agents that were once on Blair's security team to discover who is sending the photos. While they dig, they find more intrigue than they can handle.

Rad's characters are three-dimensional and are very well developed at this point. She delivers not only the relationship between Cam and Blair, but throws in a budding relationship between SS Agent Paula Stark and FBI Agent Renee Savard as a bonus. The sex scenes don't get any steamier, the characters don't get more likable, and the plot doesn't get any thicker than this.

A must own. Really...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read - well plotted and written, November 26, 2004
This review is from: Love & Honor (Honor Series) (Paperback)
This series hits it's stride in this novel - there are even fabulous side characters with interesting stories to tell. I did not want to put this book down until finished. This was well paced and very believeable.

Also look for the Bold Strokes Books edition published October 2004.

This is a Keeper !

Don't miss any of the novels in the series -

Above All, Honor
Honor Bound
Love & Honor
Honor Guards
Honor Reclaimed

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Wait for the 4th Installment, May 1, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Love & Honor (Paperback)
In the 3rd book in her dramatic "Honor" series, best-selling lesbian romance author, Radclyffe, continues the story of Blair Powell and Cameron Roberts. Struggling with her role as both Blair's lover and her Secret Service Chief, the dashing Cameron, is faced with difficult choices. She must balance her duty to protect the President's daughter with her overwhelming need to love her and her desire to allow her freedom at the same time. Set in Washington, DC, San Francisco and New York City, Love and Honor will not disappoint fans of this series. It's Radclyffe at her best--exploring the amazing love between two strong women, mixed with riveting intrigue and suspense. Radclyffe clearly does her homework, as all the details of the life of a Secret Service Agent and the security issues involved in protecting the first daughter, have a realistic feel.

Radclyffe creates satisfying, passionate romances, whether writing a romance or a romance/suspense novel. Fans know that the romance is never cheated in a Radclyffe book--it's the core that all other storylines build around.

Radclyffe's eagerly awaited 4th installment in this series, Honor Guards, will be released later this year. Giving readers who have yet to discover this gripping series time to catch-up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Start this in the evening - you will be Up all Night, April 1, 2004

This series by Radclyffe has managed to hit a high note with each book. She maintains the edge of tension between the main characters that is necessary in good romance books (straight or lesbian). Each installment ratchets the intensity a little more - and this one is a fitting end (?). The twists and turns that keep the characters on edge with each other make sense within the structure of the narrative.

If you enjoy a good romance series get this one. But make sure you get all of the books before you start. You won't be able to stop until the last page of this book (and you will then find yourself re-reading parts.)

The book is mildly entertaining. The two main characters are interesting and likeable, although the plot lacks the dramatic energy to really keep the reader engaged. The element of suspense is simply not strong enough for the genre. One of my primary frustrations is that the author does not understand the concept of point of view (and apparently neither does her editor). Switching from one character's mind into the other without cause or pause weakens the dramatic tension and brings an ameteurish air to the writing. Considering how many books she has written, I'm surprised a good editor hasn't helped her learn this important skill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent series, April 11, 2011

I was a little skeptical at first with couple of books in this series; however, when I finished reading one book, I wanted to go to the next one right away. Radclyffe is an amazing author! I loved all of the characters and the love Radclyffe created. I wonder if she thought of making this Honor series into TV show (series) because I can think of one that can take on Cam character perfectly - Heather Peace (can't think of anyone that would fit Blair's role though :P). Thank you for all these great stories. I'm waiting for more your books to come out in the Summer.

4.0 out of 5 stars three thumbs up, December 4, 2009
By
This review is from: Love & Honor (Honor Series) (Paperback)
as the series continues, the writing seems more cohesive and the plot is alluring enough that i rush right out to buy the next book almost as soon as i've finished the previous entry.

in "love & honor," a few dastardly villians work to destroy Blair and Cam's new relationship in order to prevent President Powell from being elected for a second term.

there seem to be more intimate moments in this book, compared to the previous two. while this is not disappointing, the mushy lovey dovey stuff is overshadowing the adventurous portions of the story. i do hope that Radclyffe manages to balance out the romance AND the adventure in "honor guards."
