5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Swansong from the Twisted July 2, 2000
Format:Audio CD
Tis album was unfortunately the swansong of the band. It was overlooked and underrated by the critics. Real American Rock lovers however dont take it that way. Hard core fans may disagree but for my personal opinion this is the best Twisted release ever. Songs were all catchy and album just gets better and better with every listening. Even the gaps between songs are so short this album is guaranteed to leave you breathless. From the great opener "wake up" to the last cut a twisted rollercoaster take the listener to the heaven of hard rock of 80s. Just for the song "hot love" this album can be purchased. Album cover is also one of my personal favourites ever. If you are in the good ol' US hard rock of 80s dont miss this one. They dont make them they used to. A damn good & twisted release.

4.0 out of 5 stars The end of an era February 26, 2002
Format:Audio CD
Yes folks, it was a sad time indeed, the 80's and all it's glory and silliness was coming to a close. Sadder yet was the fate of Twisted Sister. The monster steam-rolling band that exploded onto the scene, exited with barely a whisper. Gone was the makeup and outrageous outfits. Now they were dressed like leather-clad bikers, but their time was over. Too bad too, considering this was a good album.

I remember the day I bought the tape. I was walking home from work and it was pretty damn cold. I had a few bucks to burn, so on the way home I stopped at a record store. Even though 'Love is for Suckers' hadn't been out that long. I walked home listening to it. Back then when I walked everywhere, my WalkMan was a must have.

I remember walking the rest of the way home listening to the first song, 'Wake up the Sleeping Giant'. My favorite tune on the album, great opener. The title track is awesome, as is 'Hot Love', 'Me and the Boys' (ode to the infamous boy's night out and rock n roll) and the touching tongue in cheek) "You are all that I need'. Sorry, can't tell you anything about the 'new' tracks, but I'm sure they are good with Dee at the helm.

4.0 out of 5 stars Remastered Plus... April 13, 2007
Format:Audio CD
I liked the album to begin with, and I like it even more with the bonus songs. There is one thing everyone seems to agree upon. This is not the usual TS album. The 'Live at Wacken' extras, and I think the behind the music special, tell us that this was supposed to be a Dee Snider solo record, but the label wanted a TS album. In retrospect, after 'Come Out And Play' I think a change of pace was good for TS. That gives us 'Love Is For Suckers'. I thought the album cover was a creative illustration for the title. I have to agree that 'Wake Up (The Sleeping Giant)' and 'Yeah Right!' are the heavy hitters on this one. Wake Up could have been a huge hit had it arrived a couple years sooner. The overall content is different in its references to women/sex, but that goes with the theme of the title. The music does come across softer than previous TS offerings as well. Songs like the title track, 'Me And The Boys', 'One Bad Habit', and 'Tonight' are solid tracks. 'Hot Love', 'I'm So Hot For You', and 'You Are All That I Need', which are good songs, really represent the rock scene in the late eighties. Had Bon Jovi or Poison put these out they probably would have been hits... but Twisted Sister? Good songs, just out of character.
I really enjoyed the bonus songs. 'If That's What You Want' and 'Feel Appeal' are the strongest I would say.
I give this remastered album 4 stars. I would give the original 1987 version 3 stars.
