5.0 out of 5 stars This album rocks
If you want a new band to listen to and like to be able to sing along, then this band is for you. You'll find yourself humming these tunes after just one listen. Definitely buy this record.

3.0 out of 5 stars Stupid, but enjoyable none the less
Alright, this isn't what you'd call a "work of art" or "life changing experience", but for what it is, it isn't all that bad. In 2001, "Handsome Devil" made their debut on Jeremy popoff's "dirty martini" records, with eleven (11) mediocre pop-punk tracks, ranging from slightly above average to just plain poor. At first listen, you'd probably think "a poor man's Lit", but...

Bottom line, it's not gunna change your life, but it's okay for just a party record or record to drive to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life behind the Orange Curtain, December 25, 2001

Forget going to see the feature film drivel, "Orange County". Forget the latest "packaged for platinum" release from No Doubt. If you want to know what life is all about here in the "OC" and hear what is maybe just the best new band around, get this CD now! These guys have FUN and love music - and you can tell they have some heavy influences. Sometimes I swear I think I can hear what it would have been like if Green Day opened for Elvis Costello in 1979. But make no mistake, this is not revisionist new wave. These guys rock. If this band ends up languishing behind the Orange Curtain along with every other indie band that doesn't have a chick in it, then it really is a crime.

3.0 out of 5 stars No punk expert, February 25, 2003
I like the usual trendy punk stuff blink, sum, etc and this was really good for the first 4 songs and then went south. Still worth it for atleast 4 goods songs in this day of one hit wonders.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Hellion Review, July 9, 2002

I bought Handsome Devil's "Love and Kisses from the Underground" about 2 weeks ago and it hasn't left my cd player at all! This is one of the cds that can make anyone feel energetic, crazy, and happy. "Making Money" is the ultimate summer song while "Barbecue" sets off a really rad chorus that stays in your head for days. "Samurai" is really cool and sports really catchy tunes. My other faves would be "I fall down" and "Back into Action"...overall-this cd rocks!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best new Punkish bands, April 14, 2002
I love happy Punk music, it's just plain fun to listen to. You can tell these guys are just havin' a great time and in turn ya have a great time listening to it. Makin' Money can always put me in a good mood. This is a cd definitely worth buying. I seen that a lot of people that liked Jimmy Eat World bought this as well, I can see why, and even though I am a big J.E.W. fan, I think these guys are better. Buy the cd!

This CD is awesome! I recommend it to anyone who likes this kind of music or just music in general. To get to the point though this is a really good CD, I like every song on it, money well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD! Go buy it!, September 14, 2003

They're just one of those "unheard" bands that are really good. Their sound of pop-punk really tells them how good they are. Good songs, too. Can't say anything bad about all their songs - they're all equally good. Hard to say that on a debut CD, but on this band, you can say that.

Next album is worth a wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars pop punk at its finest!, July 23, 2003

"litsmitten" (Cleveland, OH USA) - See all my reviews
I first heard about Handsome Devil through Lit's mailing list. They mentioned how they were the first band signed to their Dirty Martini label, and if they're good enough for the guys in my all-time fave band Lit, then they must be good enough for me. I bought Love and Kisses from the Underground the day it came out and was instantly satisfied, especially with the bonus disc, featuring a new Lit song from their upcoming album. Now, almost 2 years later, I still love listening to the Handsome Devil cd, especially since they were awesome live, opening for Lit last year, and they have 2 new songs from their new album on their website - its making me itch for the cd asap!! look for it out sometime as early as september of this year!
