About the Author

Karen Jerabek writes modern, lighthearted Carolina fiction where the women have real jobs and shop at Target. Set in the Carolinas, her books are the stories your girlfriends would tell you after a couple glasses of wine on a girls' night out. Her main characters are strong, sassy women with loveable flaws who's ultimate goal is to find their true North. There will be twists and turns along the way to keep you guessing but the endings are delightful!

Karen Jerabek was married young, divorced young and after a self-imposed cocooning phase, emerged ready to fully embrace her second chance. In her quest to find her true North, she discovered a love for chocolate croissants, kickball and lazy pajama days. Today, she lives in Coastal North Carolina with her beautiful twin daughters and her loveable yet mischievous Siberian Husky.

Karen Jerabek's Love Leaps was a pleasure to read and a real eye opener. The reader gets great insight, through the main character Emma, of what it's like to be out of the loop about one's own romantic relationship.

As a male reading this I feel that I was able to sympathize with Gray's need for space. I didn't agree fully with the way he explained his need to Emma, but I think it was very realistic. A lot of guys, myself included aren't great with expressing their thought process. I can also, and more comfortably, side with Emma in this. She was told out of the blue that her boyfriend needed space and would be in contact once he was ready. I would be just as much of a wreck were my significant other to blind side me like that, leaving me with no hope but to wait out the absence and the communication silence.

For a short story there was a good amount packed into it to enjoy. The conflict of heart Emma went through during her period of uncertainty was also a great addition. It aided in the mystery of how this story would end. I think the ending was great as well and a little unexpected for me.

While I thoroughly enjoyed Love Leaps, I'd enjoy reading a companion story to this. I think if the author were to share a story from Gray's point of view it'd bring both sides of the story together and be very enjoyable. (Though this isn't necessary, it's just wishful thinking. I enjoy this author's work.)

This is a perfect, light, yet sincere story of the heart. The author makes her characters easy to relate to, yet the story will keep you captivated and guessing until the end. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a gratifying short love story.

My second book by this author and I have begun to like her style. She has a way to draw you into the story very easily. I became moved by the main character's feelings whether they were happy or sad and felt like a could relate to her situations. Very real and honest!

What a great story! And best of all it was very short and sweet...the type of book you can read in about an hour.

Emma is dating Gray and he has just told her that he needs a break. Needs a break! Are you kidding me, such a cliché and Emma totally doesn't understand. In fact, she is quite devastated and does know how to handle it. She emails her girlfriend, Jessica, who offers her take on things. Then she talks to Roger, a co-worker, and gets the male perspective on the situation.

What follows is the classic phone checking and nail biting habits of a woman who still can't figure out why her guys needs some space. Do we really do this? (Yes, but how many of us really want to admit that fact!) Then Emma gets a message from a guy whom she hasn't heard from in a long while. Enter Sam. She likes him. She knows he likes her. She hasn't heard a peep out of Gray, so why not? She does...go out with him that is...and now she has to decide which one is for her. You're going to have to read the book to find out, because I am not saying!
