What a true gift,
By Christy (Yukon, OK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Letters to My Baby (Hardcover)
I received this book for a baby shower gift on June 11, 2000. This book is a treasure that will continue to bless those who read it for years to come. It is filled with scripture and quotes that will make your heart fill with joy. Tears filled my eyes while reading all of the feelings that are felt by those women who are truly thankful for the miracles that grow within them. A gift only God can give. This book allows you to write to your unborn child and tell them all of the feelings you are experiencing. There are several headings to start you out. One of my favorites is the one that starts, "The first person I told I was pregnant"....It allowed me to share the wonderful moment I told my husband we were expecting. My son Gabriel will be able to read how desperately he was wanted someday. I can't wait to share this book with others who are expecting or have newborns.

Non-christian mommies be aware...,
By Lone Star Atheist (North Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Letters to My Baby (Hardcover)
For you christian mommies, this darling book will melt your heart. As a non-christian, I was disappointed that it was never mentioned in any of the reviews for this sweet book that it was filled with Bible verses and passages. The illustrations are totally precious, I love the ideas offered to inspire you to write your own love letters to your baby, but was utterly put off by the overwhelming christian-ness of this book. If the christian way isn't for you, keep looking for another baby journal.

I agree that this book is absolutely Christian. It's too bad that people have bought it without knowing that, and ended up resenting that aspect of it. I had the opportunity to read through it at the bookstore, so I was well aware of the nature of the book.
It is beautiful and celebrates the joy of motherhood. I felt excited writing such special things to my baby, and now that she is born, I love writing even more things to her, knowing more of her personality and the joy she has brought to our home. As someone else stated, the lead-ins really get you thinking, and help you relay more personal feelings than you might normally consider. The poems before each section are special and heart-warming, too. I would recommend this book to any Christian mothers out there who want to make something special for their baby to cherish later in life.

Making an heirloom,

This journal is GREAT! I love the scripture passages that help you focus on the miracle and blessing of having a child. From the day you find out to the months after, this gives your great prompts to record your emotions and tell your baby how much you love her/him.

This book is a real tear-jerker. I can only answer a few questions at a time because I inevitably start crying! The questions are very thought provoking and make me very emotional, so I have to put the book away before my tears destroy the pages! It is a beautiful book. I like that it doesn't have spaces for pictures... I will get a different baby book for photos. Highly recommend. This book definitely has a Christian focus, but nothing too disruptive if you aren't religious or Christian.

This is a great little book, I just wish I'd gotten it when I was FIRST pregnant, rather than just before my baby was born. I don't remember some of the early stuff well enough to write it down, and frankly, I don't have time now that I'm a new mom. So this would NOT be a good shower gift, but would be a great gift if a girlfriend/daughter/sister just found out she was pregnant.

I got this gift for my wife. She wrote in it everyday and is a special time for her to talk and read to the baby. Now the baby is here she reads what she was thinking and it calms the baby down.
I love how it mentions that there are scriptures(one review states how they wished it mentionied it, it was) and the information about the book was identical for the product that we recieved. We now give this book to anyone that announces there pregnancy!

A girlfriend gave me this book in the beginning of my pregnancy. It provided a special opportunity to share my love and thoughts with my daughter before she was here and continue to write meaningful messages to her through the introductory statements for each letter to baby. I recently bought it to give to three women who are expecting. This book is unique in that it explicitly provides ways to share God's love and your thoughts on God with your child.

I received this book as a gift when my daughter was born. I've enjoyed every moment of writing in this book to my daughter and I can't wait until the day when she's old enough that I can pass this on to her. It will definitely be something special she can cherish as much as I cherish her.
