5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!!!!!!!! October 23, 2007
By Pope
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Most people associate Maureen O'Hara with the golden age of motion pictures, and rightfully so. But what few know was that she also had a gorgeous soprano voice to match her unequalled beauty. Beyond her work in the short lived musical "Christine" (which did generate a cast album that is available on CD), however, we have never really had much of a chance to hear her vocal skills. "Love Letters" was released on RCA in 1958, and features Maureen singing 1950s pop songs, all delightfully arranged by Bob Thompson, and recorded in stereo. Don't look for Maureen singing any Irish tunes here; she would later record an album of Irish songs, which I don't believe has ever appeared on CD. Maureen's singing is, of course, flawless; her diction and intonation perfect, as correctly stated by a previous reviewer.

"Love Letters" has been carefully remastered by BMG Japan....yes, it's an import, but don't let that bother you since it comes from RCA/BMG. Sonically the album is very good, and sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday instead of 50 years ago. The front and back covers of the LP have been reproduced here, and the liner notes include lyrics, both in English and Japanese. On the whole, a very commendable release! This was released on CD before but has remained rare. While the casual listener may or may not find it of much interest, ownership is not optional for Maureen fans, who should be RUNNING to buy copy NOW before RCA/BMG decides to delete it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tis Her Fantastic Self March 9, 2008
Format:Audio CD
Maureen O'Hara, the most beautiful Irish redhead ever to step in front of the camera, has NEVER been given proper recognition by the film industry for her universally loved movies. And what's worse, she has never been recognized for having one of the loveliest singing voices of her generation. Deborah Kerr, another wonderful actress, had to be dubbed for her leading role in "The King and I". Maureen O'Hara, the "Queen of Technicolor" desperately wanted that role...and Herself would not have had to be dubbed! Can't you see her dancing with Yul Brynner and singing "Shall We Dance"? This album is fabulous! If you love Maureen O' will LOVE this album!

4.0 out of 5 stars CD and Amazon Review March 7, 2008
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
CD is wonderful with surprisingly good sound quality for an import. Since I can't find a place to leave feedback for Amazon (the seller), I'll leave it here. Product was shipped timely but with inadequate packaging. The case arrived broken in a lame bubble mailer instead of a box. This breakable product was not marked Fragile either. The price difference between a CD box mailer and bubble mailer makes this subpar service; not to mention my purchase of a new item was instantly reduced to a purchase of a damaged item.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well-done and Interesting October 14, 2007
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is a rare cd of Maureen O'Hara, the famous actress from Hollywood's glory days, singing. And singing she does, flawlessly. Her diction is perfect and her voice quality beautiful. The songs selected for the cd are not very well known and they seem to be along the lines of a light jazz style. The songs are all in a surprisingly low key, so as far as the songs are concerned, I wasn't too fond of them. As far as Maureen O'Hara's voice is concerned, I was very much impressed.
