This wonderful book has become one of my favorites! There is something that I love more than love stories, if you can believe it, and that is love letters! I have always hoped to receive a long, true heartfelt, love letter from a man, but I never did! There is another book that I recommend also, and that is 98 LOVE LETTERS THAT WILL BRING YOU TO YOUR KNEES, these books are very similar! I liked both of these books very much!

But I do remember getting a love note one time, when I went to get my car fixed, one of the mechanic's sent me a small torned piece of paper that said "I think that you are beautiful!" I was so shocked and surprised, and flattered, I did not think nobody was even noticing me like that, but I was so shy, and I did not know how to flirt back, all I knowed to do was smile back at him and say thank you, because my shyness was kicking in big time, and I have never learned the art of flirting, some woman are natural born flirts ,they are so good at it and well, all I know how to do, is to be, just me.

But I highly recommend this book! This book contains a awesome collection of love letters ,from famous & non-famous people of long ago, it tells you who they are, and to whom they are writing to, and what year! These letters are in their original format, with their own unique version of the English language! These letters are so heartfelt and wonderful, because these people where so in love!

I have never known men like the ones that write these letters, these letters they are so profound, and romantic, and I love all these beautiful names, that the men called their ladies that they loved so much; names like MY BELOVED, MY IMMORTAL BELOVED, MY DARLING, MY LOVE, MY ANGEL, MY BELOVED ANGEL, MY DEAREST, and so on, etc! WOW my heart would melt, if a man called me all those beautiful names, and if he would really mean it! I hope one day to be somebodys BELOVED, or somebody's BELOVED ANGEL! I love that word "beloved"! But this special book has love letters from:

LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN
WINSTON CHURCHILL
LORD BYRON
F. SCOTT FITZGERALD
JOHN KEATS
NAPOLEON BONAPARTE
VICTOR HUGO
and so many more! These people come alive, as you read their letters! You will love this book, and will read it more than once!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very beautiful but modernized June 16, 2008
Format:Paperback
I understand why they put the letters in modern English but really does take the romance out of it. And no, the letter does not read the way it does in the movie but is now:

Eternally Yours
Eternally Mine
Eternally Ours.

Still beautiful but not the same romantic, dreamy feel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Love Letters in a Beautiful Book August 27, 2008
Format:Paperback
Wonderful collection of love letters. The book itself is beautiful with the old fashioned quill and rose on the front cover. The interior is just as pretty. The names appear to be calligraphy, but it's regular print.

I was especially excited to see the letters are the originals. They are not put in modern terms.

I'm going to have to order another one since my friend borrowed it and she won't bring it back to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!
Loved all the various letters. Definitely well worth the price. I bought this on my Kindle, but only because I have no more room for 'real' books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but could be better arranged.
It's interesting to read the letters in this book but they could have been better arranged to make a more useful reference.

3.0 out of 5 stars ok - not what I expected
I probably should have checked this out in the library instead. Most of the poems have a narrative view first, then it shows the poem. Read more

I'm such a sucker for love letters that's why I bought this in the first place. That, plus I did see a (similar) version of it in the Sex & the City movie. Read more

Some of the letters I have to question why they were included. $5.99 would be a better price for this. Extremely disappointed.

Do Men Write Love Letters Anymore?
And would women really enjoy one? It seems that email is killing the love letter, because no matter how poetic you may write an email, it is not the same as a letter. It is a medium that lends itself best to brevity and invites a response that somehow seems inappropriate. I don't want the woman I... Read more
