Book Description

Bridal shop manager Chloe Rogers will soon marry Richard Foster—so she thinks—until suddenly, she bumps into her childhood sweetheart, Josh Goldman, whom she hasn’t seen in thirteen years. The sparks between Chloe and Josh fly, but Richard provides safety, financial security. Should she follow her heart or her head? The answer comes in a surprise twist. While cleaning her attic, she stumbles upon love letters written to her estranged mother forty years ago from a man she loved. When Chloe secretly brings them together again and sees how much time they’ve lost, she is challenged not to make the same mistake her mother made. Will Chloe opt for security or will she risk her heart and marry her true love?

2.0 out of 5 stars definitely not my cup of tea... November 20, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
There have been many times I have loved a book, and was suprised to see 1 or 2 star reviews. Now it is me in the minority...

My reasons:
1. The basis of the "love" between Chloe and Josh is their "relationship" when they were 11 or 12. When Josh moved away, they pledged their undying love for each other, and he promised to come back and marry her. I CANNOT buy love between children that young.

2. Story problems - Chloe has an iphone, but she "snaps the phone shut" MULTIPLE times in the story. They arrive at a cabin in Yosemite, but check out of a hotel. They go whitewater rafting, THEN to breakfast. Chloe gave a description of Ignacio's life that included details that she did not learn until later in the story. There are more, but I am avoiding spoilers. I attribute these problems to lazy editing.

3. Grammar and punctuation errors abound, also use of the wrong words, or strange phrases. An example of a strange phrase: "horsing food down". I've heard of "wolfing food down", but never horsing. There were other things like this that would stop me in my tracks, wondering what it meant.

4. Most of our time with Chloe was her trying to decide to follow her heart or head. Even after she makes a "decision", she starts her indecision again. I got SO tired of that. I wanted to scream at her.

5. The dialog did not read realistically for me.

6. 24 year olds played "spin the bottle". Need I say more?

All these issues seriously overshadowed any good points about the book, making this a book I would not recommend, and an author I would not read again.

Final note: I was shocked to see in the final acknowledgements that there was an editor, I would never have guessed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless July 15, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
When isn't the age old question asked?"love or money which is better" The story this author brings it to us in is entertaining and gripping. She also brings us a fabulous side story of a strainded mother daughter relationship which is also timeless. You add onto that a tiny dog , a wedding and a bridal shop manager you have a book you can not put down. I read this in one sitting. I loved the story I found it romantic and hopeful.
