An entertainment not to be missed. -- Stephanie Harper

Once you get involved in the lives of the characters, you have to see what happens. -- Bob Thomas

Set against the blood stirring backdrop of the American Revolution, Jerry Robbins breathes life and passion into her characters in this stirring and dramatic epoch. Threading their way through the maelstrom of events that gave birth to a great nation, Penelope and Daniel come to flesh and blood life for us over 200 years later and through their story we can feel something of what it must have been like to have lived, loved, lusted, hoped, and fought and, in the process, helped to give birth to a new era. -- James Parsons

Surprising secrets of our country's origins come to life in this new novel about a soldier turned spy and a fiery preacher's daughter, and the young officers of Washington's army whose courage and ideas will later shape the new nation. A must read for any man or woman who is an American. -- Louise Brown

From the Publisher

Readers will be splendidly entertained by this absorbing and superbly researched saga of the American Revolution. FOR LOVE& LIBERTY has history and spying as its main themes, put together in a way as to bring vivid life to the characters of this outstanding novel.

This is a John Jakes type novel, a "coming of age" story of two people: Daniel, a young Continental soldier, and Penelope, a spirited but complicated girl whose attraction for a handsome British officer leads her to become a spy. Together, Daniel and Penelope join forces in a mission that will determine the fate of the war. The shadow of the gallows hangs over them as they risk their lives to gather the information so desperately needed by General Washington. The ending, however, comes as a shocking surprise.

The singular focus of this book gives us new insight on the life and times of our country's early beginnings. The characters are unusual, different, and hold promise for the future as characters of a sequel.
