Book Description

She was on his sofa, reading a book. She was a complete stranger.

And she was naked…

Her name was Zoe, and she had survived a horrific ordeal.

Fleeing from trouble and the threat of death, Zoe turned to her best friend, Helen. Driving for three days straight, she arrived cold and hungry on Helen’s doorstep.

But Helen was at work. Leaving Helen’s husband, John, and Zoe together…all alone.

Having escaped from a life of terror and violence, Zoe was sure she could hide out with them for a while. Just long enough to get back on her feet and her life in order again.

John’s only mistake was to agree she could stay with them…

Because Zoe’s past was fast catching up with her.

And that past would draw them all into a game of life and death.

By letting her stay, John had no idea of the horror that would be visited on them all…

For someone had a game to finish – a game that could turn very deadly indeed.

LOVE LIES DYING

You always love,
The ones you hurt...

5.0 out of 5 stars Gerlach scores again! April 24, 2007
Format:Hardcover
Although written before Lake Mountain, Love Lies Dying is Bloodletting Press's second Steve Gerlach release and every bit as tense, involving, explicit and brilliant as its predecessor. This is a book of 3s - 3 words in the title, 3 parts to the book and 3 characters... yes, only 3 characters, but take my word for it, you'll only notice when you look back after finishing the book. Other people are mentioned but never seen, and yet Gerlach breaths more life and depth into these non-appearing characters than many writers do in their main protagonists. You will care about what happens to them, even though you never meet them. Needless to say, the 3 characters you do meet are so well drawn you will be helpless to resist as you are dragged along through every agonising, bloody, sexually charged second of their adventure.

This is not a book for the easily shocked, but then Steve Gerlach's books never are. However, for those of us who enjoy a scary, adult, rollercoaster ride of thrills and horror I highly recommend you buy Love Lies Dying. I'm already looking forward to the promised release of the kind-of-sequel, Hunting Zoe, from Bloodletting Press in the near future.

This is the third Steve Gerlach book I've read (Rage and Lake Mountain were the other 2) and he has yet to put a foot wrong. I am an unashamed fan!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book you have to be patient with June 25, 2013

This book grabs you from the beginning, drags through the mud in the middle, then explodes at the end. The end for me was the best part. Everything comes together with a couple of twists that I had no idea were coming. I know a lot of people had a hard time getting through the middle of the book, but if you can hang on you won't be disappointed. Be warned! There are alot of sexual situations and mild violence.

1.0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE! September 15, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book sucks! I am a big fan of Ray Garton and Richard Laymon so I figured this book would be similar to them. I was wrong. The writing is weak and the story is worse. I was sucked into the first two chapters then when things start going wrong, it is so far fetched that it makes it difficult to believe. No one would follow the path that these idiots do in the book. It makes it too unbelievable to be drawn in and "scared" for what might happen next, like Laymon and Garton can do.

I only paid $2.99 for it but it is electronic so I can't use it to start a fire. Oh well.

More About the Author

I am one of Australia's few thriller writers. Born and bred in Australia, my fast-paced, cut-to-the-bone thrillers are a refreshing voice in the dry, barren Australian literary scene.

My background includes many varied roles. I have worked as an editor for a book publisher; as the editor-in-chief of an Australian motorcycle magazine; editor and publisher of an international crime magazine, Probable Cause; a researcher and columnist for a major Australian daily newspaper; a Technical Publications Officer in the security industry; marketing executive for an international telecommunications software company; and I currently work in the field of international transit producers.

I also worked as the Historical Advisor on the Australian film, Let's Get Skase, and I'm working hard in partnership with Probable Cause Productions to see crime and horror tales be brought back to the Australian film scene.

I live in Melbourne, Australia, and I'm currently working on a new novel.

I hope you enjoy my work and have as much fun reading my novels as I have bringing them to you. My aim is to produce a once-in-a-lifetime ride for all my readers. I pick you up at page one, lock you in tight, and then never let you go - until the last page. Keep your hands inside the cage at all times and enjoy!
