From Library Journal
Those familiar with Fromm's writings will enjoy these edited transcripts of a series of talks he gave on South German public radio in the 1970s (he died in 1980). They are leisurely (at times, understandably, repetitive) recapitulations and meditations on his life-long themes: love, freedom, good and evil, affluence and ennui, aggression, Freud and psychoanalysis, Marx and socialism, the psyche of Hitler, and politics; they show Fromm to be as thought-provoking and full of a love of life as always. Readers new to Fromm's work may be confused by the placement of the summary of Fromm's career in the middle of the book, and may miss a listing of his writings. Recommended for comprehensive collections. Marcia G. Fuchs, Guilford Free Lib., Ct.
