This book definitely changed my marriage and may have saved it. Over the years we had lost much of the intimacy in our relationship and I didn't even realize it until my wife basically told me she didn't love me any more. I never considered that this was even possible, but it happenned to me.

I have read a number of marriage books since this occurred. All were highly reviewed. All were good; this was the best. It is a complete guide to marriage. It is definitely a Christian guide but it isn't preachy.

This is not a book of exercises for couples in a troubled marriage. It is much more. Those other books were valuable too, but this provides a frame of reference that even makes those other books better.

I would highly recommend it to any married couple or anyone desiring to get married. It is useful for all marriages whether healthy or troubled. It opened my eyes to what a truly intimate relationship can be like. We didn't have one before but with the help of this book, we do now. We are still working through our issues, but I am amazed at the positive changes. Although I realized that I had to make more changes than she did, it was the best thing I ever did.

I would say that it definitely written more for Christians, but non-christians would get just as much out of it so long as they aren't turned off by Christian principles.

This book is hope! Approaching his book in an easy to follow and practical way as well as biblically sound, Dr. Wheat has given us a book that acknowledges the fact that possibly only one partner in the marriage is concerned about making the marriage work, yet if the one partner is willing to 'hang in there' and work, the marriage can be saved. As a skeptic of counseling books in general, I highly recommend this book as the best I've ever read

My husband and I were at a critical stage of healing in our marriage when I read this book. It had been seven months since I had found out about his infidelity. Although I had forgiven him as much as I knew how, there were still a lot of issues we were struggling with. This book has been absolutely the best counsel I have received from any source, short of the Bible. Dr. Wheat's Biblical resources and practical advice combined to help me see the areas I needed to work on to completely release my marriage to God. Much of what he says is opposite of the advice we get from well-meaning friends and family, but it is God-directed and thus the best solution possible. Some of it sounds impossible, but it confirmed to me that God is sovereign and He truly is the God of Romans 8:28. This book has been a life saver to me... Thank you, Dr. Wheat!

Simply put, I advise all of my friends and anyone who will listen, to grab their Bible, this book and your spouse/spouse-to-be, find a comfortable spot and read, discuss and experience this book together.

If you are truly seeking God's purpose for your marriage, are in the middle of a crisis or are thinking of getting married, involve God everyday, and READ this book ... it WILL make a difference in your life, marriage and love life.

This book can help you focus on being a better spouse regardless of how bad things have been in the past. It really helps you concentrate on the reasons that you got married... I wish every married couple would read and practice the ideas in this book!

The biblical wisdom of Dr. Ed Wheat and Gloria Perkins is truly life-changing. If you believe that the Bible is the Word of God and want to have an AMAZING marriage relationship, read this book, do what it says, and see how God works! My husband and I read it together and we've gone from being just housemates to being best friends and lovers! I love the book so much that I keep copies on hand and give one to anyone I know that's in a struggling relationship or is considering marriage.

I was given this book by a friend, even though I was not a religious person. I was at a time of crisis in my marraige, so I agreed to read it. Then, I read it again. Then I pulled out my highlighters and read it again, marking up the entire book. Then every month or so since then, I read it again.

This book teaches about love in a biblical context, but not in a dry or preaching manner. Dr. Wheat provides solid advice, backed by the scriptures, helping you to unlearn your bad habits and replace them with good ones. As a religious skeptic, I came away transformed in my belief system.

I thank Dr. Wheat every day for the changes in myself and my marraige, and can only hope that millions of copies of this book make their way into the homes of those with troubled marraiges.

I've read a lot of books on marriage, attended a lot of marriage counseling, and even been in study groups. Nothing has ever driven it home to me more than Doctor Wheat's book.
Doctor Wheat takes a slighty different approach to marriage in this book. Everything that is in this book, he takes back to scripture out of the Holy Bible. I've never seen an author base so much of their findings on scripture as Dr Wheat has. As Doctor Wheat explains in the book, (paraphrased) "Follow these instructions to the letter, and give it 6 months to see change." Even if you don't think you need improvement, you need to read this book. Quick reading, to the point, excellent choice. This book is indeed a God-send!!! Thank you Jesus!!!

If you have seperated and are trying to find answers on how to get back on track, start with the last chapter and then read the rest of the book. What a dunce I was as a husband for many years. This book is a must read for every man that wants to have the rich blessing that God intends marriage to be. I've bought 20+ copies and have given many of them away. On the day my sons announce they have found the right woman, I will be giving a copy to them and insist that they read it.

I can't tell you what a difference this book has made in my marriage. I had almost given up hope when our minister recommended that we read this book. My husband had many wrong ideas about love and marriage and this book changed his thinking for the first time in 14 years! Our marriage is on the road to recovery and intimacy for the first time. The Biblical principles taught here are exactly what was needed for us.
