5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for Foster Fans, January 31, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Lights the World (Audio CD)
Fans of Foster owe it to themselves to seek out this 1994 import title, which seems to be little-known in America. This mostly-instrumental CD is more of the same high-quality work we've come to expect from Mr Foster, but contains some moments of lyrical beauty that surpass even some of his better American releases. "The Color of My Love", (the Celine Dion hit), is absolutely gorgeous, as is the lead-off track, "Jelinda's Theme", which features his now-trademark piano/sax duet sound. Although David is capable of doing up-tempo dance tracks, (see "tapDANCE" on his self-titled album), this album tends to focus on his musical sensitivity and very capable way of injecting a melody line with passion. (Check out the solo piano work on "Forever Linda", and "Ice Dance".) Also of note, is the "power-ballad" title track, which reunties Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson, with "Color Me Badd" on back up vocals, to great effect. The album goes slighly off course only a couple of times with tracks like "JEBBAS", which sounds a little like it was influenced by the "Lion King" soundtrack, complete with African-styled chants. (Not that this is a bad thing at all, however. It's still a very catchy song.) This is a CD that certainly deserved more attention in this country. It's my understanding that it was quite popular in Japan, where it was originally released. Fans of Jim Brickman and John Tesh, take note. You will love this recording.

5.0 out of 5 stars Splendid! Exquisite work by David Foster!, July 30, 2001
This review is from: Love Lights the World (Audio CD)
David Foster has always been one of my personal favorite songwriters (and singers?)... This album is an archetype of David's lifting and inspiring climate in his songs.

This album includes beautifully composed numbers like The Colour Of My Love (Céline Dion hit?) and, Jebbas which is more up tempo. The last track, Love Lights The World, sung by 3 glorious voices -- Peabo Bryson, Céline Dion and Color Me Badd, holds a very special place in my heart.

For those who haven't heard a good CD for a long time, buy this one. My favorite of Foster's works.

5.0 out of 5 stars get it now!, November 14, 2000

A wonderful record. If you're a David Foster fan, you must buy this record even at this prize.A collection of beautiful compositions with the greatest arrangements as always. The opening track reminds of "the secret of my success".There are two piano solo tracks and super layer synthesized sounds. You have to listen when the key of "The colour of my love" changes at minute 2:08.Other songs reminds me of "Rechording" album.Super vocals (Celine Dion, Peabo Bryson, Take 6 and featuring an interesting african experiment on track #3).It's a very good record to enjoy at midnight.
