What's Done In The Dark Comes Out In The Light,

This review is from: Love Like Hallelujah (Paperback)
Tai and King Brooke and Vivian and Derrick Montgomery return in Lutishia Lovely's Love Like Hallelujah. After dealing with infidelity, Tai and King have grown closer together - that is until King's old girlfriend, Tootie, comes to town with a secret. Vivian and Derrick are receiving urgent telephone messages from a mysterious woman, who has her eyes set on being First Lady. Millicent also makes an appearance as she continues to struggle with the marriage of Cy and Hope. Lovely does a wonderful job updating readers on the lives of their favorite Pastor's and their wives. It will make you laugh and shout out loud. Some portions of the story were a bit slow while others were predicable. You will still find yourself turning each page to see what happens next. Fans of Lutishia Lovely will find this story enjoyable and worth the wait. Reviewed by: Priscilla C. Johnson APOOO BookClub

LOVE LIKE HALLELUJAH shares the lives of three Christian couples, and some scorned women who can bring scandal to the pulpit. After the fallout will these ministers still be able to shout hallelujah?
Hope's prayers have been answered, she and associate pastor, Cy Taylor are getting married. But, looming in Cy's past is a woman who is ready to settle her debt. After months of therapy she cannot get CY out of her heart and her mind; he is still her man. Hope is strong in her faith and is not worried. But should she be concerned about how far a revengeful woman will go? Pastor, Derrick Montgomery and Vivian are happily married and have spent the last few years building his ministry. Vivian has the mother of the church to thank for opening her eyes to the temptation Derrick was facing; his assistant was too helpful and too dependable. Vivian quit her job and became her husband's assistant. A few years have passed and Derrick's former assistant is back with a plan, because she still thinks she should be first lady of the church. Vivian can handle his past assistant, but is she prepared for something more shocking? Pastor King Brook and his wife Tai have overcome his past indiscretions and have strengthened their marriage. King has not had a dalliance in over fifteen years, but things start to crack a little when his former mistress returns to care for her ailing mother. She is married with kids of her own, but still has a thing for King. Tai remains ever confident until she learns 'the other woman' has a teenage son, and she begins to questions her faith and her trust. Ms. Lovely returns to the two churches introduced in her previous book. She shares the peaks and valleys normal people have as they struggle to overcome un-godly enticements. She addresses, key issues surrounding pastors, first ladies, ministers of music and members. I did not view this sequel, LOVE LIKE HALLELUJAH, as Christian Fiction, but then it does represent what some ordinary Christians live with on a daily basis. Reviewed by aNN of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

Funny church comedy,

Warning this is not, repeat not Christian fiction but a book about church folks. So if one does not want to read graphic scenes of hetro and homo sexual lovemaking then don't read this book. For the rest of us this is a funny, enjoyable and good read. I have not read the first book but will do so yet this story stands alone. There are 3 main ministerial couples dealing with the drama of ex girlfriends coming out the wood work or church sisters coveting the Pastors. (Are some church sisters insane?!)
Even tho these are church folks they are far from perfect - after all one of them is living with his fiancee and testing the goodies...mmmmm. ;o) Looking forward to the 3rd book, I'm sure it will be full of drama just like this one.

Very Interesting book. Never read the Sex in Sanctuary so I read this book with no expectations. Good Church fiction (different from Christian fiction)!!! I've never been one to understand the actions of women in the churches that chase preachers and church men because of status, money clout and any other they may have. Don't get me started. But this story gave me some insight.
Wanted the storylines to end and not have to wait for another book (Very obvious there will another book). Because what else can be said about those church hoochies that chase preachers and married men and the women who have to put them in their place. Maybe the gay musician love triangle will be closed, also. Can't wait Vivian is the type of wife that is to be commended for being a level headed wife tried and true. Robin is crazy and hopefully she will be place in an institution one day. Millicent need to re-evaluate her sanity also. Very refreshing to see standard Christians like Vivian, Hope, Derrick, Mama Max,ect because somebody had to be sane in this book. They had enough crazies to spare.

(4.5 stars) Wonderful Sequel.,

Love Like Hallelujah is the continuing saga from Sex in the Sanctuary. In Love Like Hallelujah, Tai and her husband are trying to move past his infidelities and work on making their marriage last...until an ex-lover comes back into the picture. And when she comes back, all hell breaks loose, especially when she brings back her teenage son...but who's the daddy? Will their marriage handle this next obstacle, or will this be the final straw? Remember how Vivian had the ideal life, perfect husband, kids, etc? Well Vivian must now deal with her husband's ex. She tells Vivian that if it wasn't for her coming into the picture, she would be the first lady. Now the ex is coming back to claim the life that she felt should've been hers.
Love Like Hallelujah is a very good sequel to Sex in the Sanctuary. It picks up where the first book ended. In this book, love is really put to the test and not just in one house. I enjoyed the way Lutishia Lovely kept the plot going. It didn't drift to something that was not in the first book. I would not suggest starting with this book, but start with Sex in the Sanctuary, because the way the author details each character, you may be a little confused by just reading Love Like Hallelujah. I enjoyed the story and the way it flowed. Nothing dragged on, and you could feel the pain and anger each family encountered. Reviewed by Jackie for Urban Reviews

Lives are intertwined with more church drama than a little bit in Lutishia Lovely's Love Like Hallelujah. First, there's King and Tai, a married pastor and first lady who have weathered an adulterous storm, and whose relationship is on the comeback trail. Then there is Derrick and Vivian, another first couple and close friends of King and Tai's, who seemingly have the perfect relationship from the outset of the book. Finally, Cy is back, madly in love with Hope and he is making her is bride. What Tai, Vivian and Hope have in common are women who are after each their respective husbands, by any means necessary. Supporting characters Tootie, Robin and Millicent wreak havoc in these women's lives, so much so that each married woman's relationship is tested to the max.
This is the continuation of Lovely's Sex in the Sanctuary. Although I did not read the prequel to Love Like Hallelujah, this book did prove, in the end, to be a stand alone read for me. Early on in this novel, I was given enough background information on the primary characters in order that I developed the notion I could continue without having read the first. Because of all the drama the characters ensued and the various settings, I found myself having to make a chart of who was who and the relationship between characters. In hindsight, perhaps this would be a need to read the first novel. Having had to stop and think of all these things interrupted my reading flow; thus, it took me a bit longer than average to finish this selection. However, it was a good book once I got my facts and locations mapped out. Through much drama and all coming to light in the end, the only way to find out if the marriages are sustained is to read this book. I must forewarn Christian fiction book lovers that this selection does contain graphic hetero- and homosexual sex scenes and what may be considered profane language or similar terminology. Although predictable, I enjoyed this selection as entertainment and would read another book from this author. I await book 3 in the series, A Preacher's Passion.

This was the perfect follow up to 'Sex In The Sanctuary'. It deals with real life issues and drama that goes on in the house of the Lord, and the trials and tribulations that go along with being a 'first lady' of the church. It's nice to know that there are marriages that can withstand betrayal, secrets, and lies. I would highly recommend this book to everyone! Love in the end, did seem like Hallelujah!! A very good read.

Lutishia Lovely gives the church life an entirely different meaning in Love Like Hallelujah. Whew...couples, conflict, SEX, and life interact with one another to give the reader a view of real life in the congregration.
King, Tia, oh - and Big Booty Tootie, along with a novel full of people you may want to know, reveal themselves and have no shame in the readers opinion. I commend Ms. Lovely for giving us a riveting story that kept moving, kept my mouth open, and even yelling hallelujah a few times! Kudos Lutishia Lovely :-)
