A well written, knowledgeable and interesting book.,

I wasn't sure about what this author's book would be like. I had heard so much..... she was too commercialized, etc.... But I decided to judge for myself. I am happy to say that I found her book to be very responsibilly written. Her views are consistant with what the Craft is really all about. I have read quite a few books on this subject.... this one is one of the best.... I wouldn't hesitate to read another of her books!

Bewitching....,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Magic (Paperback)
Love Magic is written by one of the USA's most famous (or infamous) Witches, Laurie Cabot. The first half of this book explains what Love Magic is, how magic works, ritualism, astrological correspondences and such. The second half of the book is basically a grimoire (or collection of practical spells) to attract, enhance or dispel love and relationships. Contains two dated Appendices. Overall, fun for getting in touch with witch inside. Recommended for newbies to the craft and hardcare Cabot fans.

This is a wonderful book detailing not only a host of spells to attract new lovers, and discourage unwanted advanced, but a good introduction to the art of magick and the philosophy of Wicca. I would recommend it for those not even particularly interested in love spells per se!

The steps and potions are easy to do. The great thing is that they actually work too!!! I loved it..

This book was to become my first encounter with the practices and rituals of the Pagan. I truly appreciated the explanations given by the authors in regards to many differents rituals and other spells. Mostly, I enjoyed the freedom it gave my inner-self to experience, and hence gain, different perspectives of life, love and humanity. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to find out more about "the magic of love and the things we do for love"!!!

This review is from: Love Magic: The Way to Love Through Rituals, Spells and the Magical Life (Hardcover)
This is a good book, don't get me wrong. I really like Cabot's writing style and exercises within her books (I own 3) and her style is definitely evident in "Love Magic." The only downside I found with it was that it missed spells to help us love ourselves first before we expect anyone else to - if we want others to love us, don't we first have to love ourselves? As far as the love magic goes, there are some good spells in it (some were strange, but interesting nevertheless) divided into the three categories of attracting love, keeping it and removing it, which help it to stand out from other silly love spell books on the market (like the one by Sophia, for instance).
I do like this book, especially for the astrological information, for the spellcasting how-tos and the bit of background it has on The Craft. I would have to recommend Dorothy Morrison's "Enchantments of the Heart" over this book though, as that has more information and the 'love yourself first' idea sprinkled in it. If you're a fan of Ms Cabot's, then you will like this book, which I guess it what it all boils down to.

Making Love,
By Dr. Wilson Trivino (Atlanta, georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Magic (Paperback)
Finding love is a bit magical, so it is fitting to have a book Love Magic.
This book has all you might need, from simple love spells to the insight of the signs of the Zodiac. Many of the secrets included in this work reach back centuries, but regardless they enable the user to center his focus on the task on hand. As the book states, "In our deepest heartfelt moments, we fall in love, grow lovesick, can't eat, dream of our heart's desire, discover that love radically transforms us and that our happiness spills over into the lives of others. In short, falling in love is magical, and love itself is a form of magic that transforms and excites not just the lovers but those around them." The book also has the benefit of attracting love, enhancing love, and ending love. The spells and rituals are written in recipe form, so any well intended individual has the capability to crack open the power of love.

O.K.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Magic (Paperback)
This book was just O.K. and some of it was obviously written for the Wicca teeny-bopper fluffy-bunny mentality. For a better read I would have to recommend Gerina Dunwich's WICCA LOVE SPELLS (a.k.a. THE SECRETS OF LOVE MAGICK) or Marina Medici's LOVE MAGIC.

CHEESY,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Magic (Paperback)
Laurie Cabot's books are overrated in my opinion. I was especially not impressed with her LOVE MAGIC, which seemed to be nothing but a cheesy promotional gimmick to sell her overpriced products. For a much better book on the art of love magic I highly recommend Gerina Dunwich's WICCA LOVE SPELLS.

SICKENING,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Magic (Paperback)
I can sum up this book in one word: SICKENING. The author comes across as being very arrogant and know-it-all, despite the fact that most of what she covers in this book is nothing but a rehash from other (and may I say, more well-written) books on the subject of love magic. I met Ms. Cabot in person several years ago in Massachusetts, and found her to be quite rude and conceited - traits which seep through her poor attempt at writing. In response to the last reviewer who touted this book and its author to beyond the point of nausea, all I've got to say is, lucky for Laurie that she's got a fan.
