If you love romance and magic then you will enjoy this story along with the other spellbound books.
Rana and Titus are both very strong characters whose presence we've seen before, but in For The Love of Magic we really get to know them.

I have read every Spellbound book, and couldn't put some down, but this one I had trouble getting through.

Janet Chapman has created a wonderful world of magic and romance in her Spellbound Falls series and in previous books has introduced us to some exciting characters like the strong and powerful men who are ready to fight for the people they love and beautiful, intelligent women who know that love is the true magic and not one of them is willing to settle for anything less.

Titus Oceanus is a powerful god and the king of Atlantis who is living in the 21st century in northern Maine with his family. His wife of forty years, Rana, is beautiful, intelligent, the mother of their adult children, Max and Carolina, but she is also a mortal. Rana is the love of Titus's life and he can deny her nothing, so it comes as quite a surprise when Rana buys her own little house and moves down the road telling Titus that she just needs some breathing room and a little time to herself. So while Rana begins to explore her new found independence by learning to drive among other things, Titus and the rest of the men at Nova Mare are concerned about a mysterious colony of people nearby who seem determined to stir up their own brand of magic and it's not necessarily a good thing.

When Titus and Rana suffer an accident on the Bottomless Sea and find themselves alone for several days, feelings are revealed, secrets are shared and they both know without a doubt that with or without magic, their love will endure forever and living a life together is worth any sacrifice.

For the Love of Magic is a warm, humorous tale with strong and appealing lead characters in Titus and Rana, written with a deft hand by a skilled author with just the right amount of humor, love, sex and romance.

I have to admit that I have all of Janet Chapman's books and have read them all at least twice (if not more). If you love reading Romance and paranormal than she is the author for you. I love her books and the latest is like visiting old friends. I loved the story of how Titus and Rana restored their marriage after 40 years (give or take several thousand - as Rana would say). We got a bit of history of how they met and how they fell in love. You could read it as a stand a lone book, but it might confuse you when they bring up and have characters from previous stories invovled in the current story line. It might be best if you read the entire series in that regard. I read the book in about a day - I didn't want to put the book down, but I was sad that the book ended. I may have to pull out my old books and read through them all again. I hope you enjoy the book - I did!

Janet Chapman takes us back to Spellbound Falls! Honestly, I love this series where magic abounds and yet the true magic is always about the magic of the heart. Sometimes sweet, sometimes silly but always an enjoyable read.

For the Love of Magic tells the story or Rana and Titus.. Not their original story, although we do get to see glimpses of that. But rather the story of two people who have loved dearly for decades and yet still manage to mess things up.

Confusion, lack of communication and honestly true love separates the two when Rana moves out. She buys a lovely beach side cabin (read shack) on Max and Olivia's land (Max being her son, Olivia her daughter in law) and begins an interesting process of finding herself and protecting Titus. All the while driving poor Titus up a wall. No one moves out on a man and then calls him My Love..

Titus Oceanus, creator and protector of the Trees of Knowledge, the god of Atlantis, father of two, Grandfather of three (and one on the way) but most importantly husband of Rana.. A god bent on serving mankind, not destroying it or playing with it. He even fought the other gods in order to do so. And yet here is alone.. his adored wife has left him and the poor man hasn't got a clue as to why.

This was a fun book.. watching everyone give Titus advice and offering Rana support was just well fun. You have to feel for a guy who has no clue as to why his wife left and has the patience (sort of) to listen to all the well meaning advice, without blowing anyone up.

The negatives on this book was well it was more of a reunion book. We see all these lovely favorite characters and what they are doing. And those we don't see, we hear about..

For the Love of Magic, Spellbound Falls #5, by Janet Chapman
Grade: C

“Wow. When you take off your tiara, you don’t mess around, do you?”

Rena Oceanus has a secret and under no circumstances can she let her husband find out which is why she left Atlantis and is in Spellbound Falls alone. After forty years of marriage Rena needs space and getting it from her immortal husband Titus is not always easy and she knows if he is around he will discover her secret since he knows her so well. The more time she spends in Spellbound Falls the more she discovers how much she loves the little Maine town and people who live there and finds she doesn’t want to leave this new modern world.

Titus Oceanus is shocked when his wife declares she needs space and is leaving him for a while. Not one to sit back and let things fall, Titus follows his wife to Spellbound Falls determined to win her back. Titus knows his wife is hiding something and he too has some secrets he’s been keeping from her. Besides his wife leaving Titus is also dealing with a new god, a crazy cult and trying to keep the peace in Spellbound Falls all of which lead to him to make some big decisions in his life.

I am a big fan of the Spellbound Falls series and I was excited to get Rena and Titus’s story but for some reason this book just didn’t do it for me. I felt that it could have been a novella instead of a full novel and at times it seemed anticlimactic. For me For the Love of Magic didn’t do much but set up the next set of books in the series and again would have been better if it was shorter and not set as a full book in the series.
