Book Description

** NEW COVER** 11-13-14

Growing up in small-town Belcrest, Maddy Jennings always thought she was destined to be with her childhood sweetheart, Trent Basso. Throughout the complicated road she has traveled with Trent, someone else has had a strong presence in Maddy's life. Trent’s older brother Gabe has always been someone she could count on, therefore neither of them can be blamed when lines blur from friendship to something more. However, promises made between brothers threaten to ensure that neither of them will have a permanent place in her life.
When Maddy returns to her hometown for her brother’s wedding, she is forced to face both Trent and Gabe for the first time in two years. While the two Basso brothers fight to win her heart, she is busy struggling with a past that won't seem to let her go. Whether she wants to or not, Maddy must decide to either forfeit her own happiness or forever tear a family apart.

"Trust me when I tell you, this book is so much more than just a silly love triangle….There are so many emotions that you feel when reading this book. Happiness, Sad, Anger, Tears, Compassion and Understanding ." – Danielle LeFave from Short and Sassy Book Blurbs

About the Author

Michelle moved around the Midwest most of her life, transferring from school to school before settling down in the outskirts of Chicago ten years ago, where she now resides with her husband and two kids. She developed a love of reading at a young age, which helped lay the foundation for her passion to write. With the encouragement of her family, she finally sat down and wrote one of the many stories that have been floating around in her head. When she isn’t reading or writing, she can be found playing with her kids, talking to her mom on the phone, or hanging out with her family and friends. But after chasing around two preschools all day, she always cherishes her relaxation time after putting the kids to bed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down, wish I could 3.5 star rating July 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Disclaimer: Through an unusual means, I was given this book through a Read 2 Review and asked to provide an honest review by the author.

What do I think of this?

Hmmm....... Well, to start with, it was kind of a long read, but I found I couldn't put it down. It bounced back and forth between time frames; one second you're in the present and the next you're back when she was 11, etc. Normally that doesn't bother me, but in this case it was a constant thing and you just want her to GET ON WITH IT! I think it would have been better to start out in present, jump into the past and then work back up to the present. Would have flowed better, I think.

Due to this jumping back and forth, I developed a level of dislike and hatred for Trent that verged on the passion of a thousand burning suns!

HE'S FRIGGIN' LITTLE SPOILED SNOT! All he thinks of is himself and how Maddie needs to be there for him, but when a tragedy concerning Maddy occurs, the little snot is all, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm too wrapped up in myself and probably banging half the girls around me to be bothered." *kicks him where it hurts with a great deal of satisfaction*

Where Maddie is concerned... Ugh! Don't even get me started on her! I'll give you one word for her: enabler.

But then we have Gabe. Poor Gabe. I want a Gabe. Can I have a Gabe?

I'd prefer to have given this 3.5 stars, as I did like the overall story, but you can't do half stars. *glares at GoodReads*

...be forewarned. This book will place you on an emotionally exhausting roller coaster!

5.0 out of 5 stars Between the Basso Brothers July 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Loved this read of friendship, family & love....young & the forever kind. Meet Maddy and follow her journey of growth from the time before she is a teen. Follow her as she matures in her life choices and falls in love first with Trent, that turns out to be a life-long best friend and then with her soul mate, his brother, Gabe. This would make a great beach read and I would recommend this read to anyone, especially who loves YA.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved Love Me Back July 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
**ARC in exchange for an honest review**

Maddy (Madgirl) Jennings lives in a small town (just over 1000 people) where everyone is already fated to their partner from birth. It's the same town where the Basso brothers (Gabe and Trent) happen to be the most wanted men and Maddy just happens to be best friends with the youngest Basso brother Trent.

Love Me Back tells the story of Maddy and Trent over a 25 year period going back and forth in time and this type of storytelling works really well in this book! Maddy is a very strong girl, and like most women she truly lays herself down in the name of love. Did Maddy have her issues? Of course and when Maddy is forced to return to her hometown for her brother's wedding she's forced to confront them and her future.

Michelle Lynn did a great job of building the characters and the story line, watching the growth in Maddy as she learns to accept Trent and the situations in her life was realistic and not over the top. Add in a HEA and I was inlove.

4.0 out of 5 stars I wanted to love it. I almost did. August 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book. *sigh* I wanted to love it. I almost did. The level of female protag flakyness, however.. This is a good book. It is well written, it kept me turning pages and made me want to continue reading to find out what happens next. The characters were very well written, believable and balanced, making you love them, then hate them, then love them all over again. I just have major issues with a woman who can't make up her damn mind, strings two boys along (even if those two boys are not innocent in the issues) and who lets herself be a doormat. Yes, there is strength in her kindness and compassion, but there is also a point where it all just becomes too much and you want to slap her around with a large trout and say "Really? We are going there again?". I think this is just my bias against love triangles. I have never been a fan of that type of plot / story. So, my bias aside, I recommend this read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great story yet annoying May 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Don't get me wrong....loved this story...except a few things. 1' it's very similar to The Bet...and I liked that so much better.... 2' I didn't like the past/present chapters...not a huge fan of that- would rather it mostly go from point A to B. 3' I did LOVE the characters but the main character drove me nuts. Seriously it took her years...and I mean years to to pull her head out of her ass.

5.0 out of 5 stars A love triangle done well July 14, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
I DEVOURED THIS BOOK!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review -- thank you so much, Michelle!

4 1/2 stars

I knew from the first chapter, featuring Maddy and her best friend Kenna playing repeated games of MASH, that I would enjoy this book. The story is well-written, heart-wrenching, and was over much too quickly. I fell in love with these characters, even at their worst.

Obviously, there a very significant love triangle situation here... with brothers no less, and on top of that, both families are entirely too involved in their lives (oh, small towns...)

Maddy returns to her home for her brother's wedding, and she must come face-to-face with the two handsome Basso brothers that each hold a piece of her heart. Even with her ridiculously awesome friend Ian by her side, Maddy is terrified of how things will play out... and rightfully so. It's easy to get frustrated where love triangles are involved, but what can I say? I'm a sucker for the angst. Maybe I just secretly wish I was forced to choose between two handsome and swoon-worthy blue-eyed brothers. ;) Honestly... the love triangle situation got super messy (which is to be expected), but I was pleased with how everything 'wrapped up' at the end between the three of them. Even though I knew where *my* heart stood between the two brothers pretty early on in the story, they both have redeeming qualities and it's easy to see why Maddy struggled between them. Too often, in love triangles, I end up hating one guy and therefore I'm frustrated with the main character stuck in the middle.

Maddy???
There is no incest. It's a story of friendship and love between a girl and two brothers (not her two brothers)
