Elvis meet Cinderella,
By
This review is from: Love Me Tender (Leisure Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sandra Hill has done it again. She has created some of the most memorible characters. Her books are never boring. They always have action, passion, heated arguments, and humor. I would recommend any and all of her books to everyone. This one starts off when we meet, Prince"Charming" Perico Tomas de la Ferrama, aka P.T. as he is getting into character for his Princely role of owner of Ferrama Shoes. He has, with the help of his two best friends, created a highly sucessful company that is about to go public. He has taken his step-fathers old shoe company and turned into a multi-million dollar business. He spots a possible problem though in the body of a long legged beauty holding picket signs using crutches. He is breahless at the sight of her but when they actually meet he finds him self breathless from the punch she throws him. Cynthia Sullivan is known on Wallstreet as the Shark and when she is injured wearing Ferrama shoes she threatens a lawsuit unless they settle on her terms. Cynthia will not admit to anyone that P.T. has knoced her for a loop. She stands her ground which is the cause for her downfall. P.T. has two step-sisters that need the money that going public will give them and they are not about to let her interfear with those plans. They kidnapp her along with a Elvis wanna be named Elmer Presly. P.T. goes after her and finds hims self kidnapped as well. Soon Elmer, who claims to be thier fairy god-father, works his magic on the two of them and they can't keep thier hands of each other. The passion is so hot that they almost burn up. But below the surface of the passion lies love that both are fighting. Its a struggle to see who will win love or thier stubborn natures. The secondary stories and secondary characters of this tale are fab and make this all the more enjoyable to read. You've don it again Sandra! Way to Go!

Not her best,
By Tina "tinaellorascave" (United States) - See all my reviews

In some ways, this book was the Hill I know and love - humorous dialogue, sexy hero, sharp-tongued heroine. But in one very important way it was not Hill at all - the plot was too unbelievable. Okay, okay, it's supposed to be a fairy tale. I could have bought that if she'd left it at that, but she went from unbelievable to ludicrous with some of the sideshow characters she threw in. (Elmer Prestley as a fairy godfather?) Yikes, Sandra, what were you thinking! Sandra Hill is a hilarious writer. If you've never read her before, skip this one and start with another. Try "The Love Potion" for a contemporary, "The Last Viking" for a time travel, or "The Tarnished Lady" for a historical.

barrels of laughs,

Cynthia, "The Shark" meets P.T. "The Prince of Toad." A very handsome toad, mind you. Together they are combustible and hilarious. Sandra Hill has a way with words. Where did she get such talent? I say, more! More! If you are looking for a book that does not require you to think and analyze, then this is the book for you. Just sit back, relax and prepare to laugh you head off. And oh, make sure you have an apron handy....

Sandra Hill Gone Wild!,

This review is from: Love Me Tender (Leisure Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sandra Hill is the kind of writer who produces books so funny that you are embarrassed to read them in public because you just know that you'll end up making strange snorting sounds -- or even worse -- having your Diet Pepsi come out of your nose as you choke and gasp with laughter.Love Me Tender is truly Sandra Hill gone very far over the top. It all starts with a pair of shoes... Forget about logic. Forget about reason. This book goes way beyond the wildest reaches of your imagination, and it's hard to classify it. If you're willing to test the boundaries of your tolerance for insanity, give Love Me Tender a try. Just remember, I warned you... This is one loopy book.

Quirky and fun read!,
By Susie (Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Me Tender (Leisure Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Love Me Tender is a really quirky and fun read by Sandra Hill. Just a heads up, this book is not for everyone because it can be really silly at moments. It is about Wall Street trader Cynthia Sullivan who is planning on suing Ferrama shoes for damages suffered from wearing their high heel shoes. Prince Perico (Peter) Tomas de la Ferrama is the owner of the company, and his company is ready to go public, so the last thing he needs is a scandal about his company hitting the presses.Prince Ferrama plans on trying to sweet talk Cynthia out of her lawsuit, and when he meets her, he wants to do more than just sweet talk her. He is instantly attracted to the beauty, and sets out to get close to her. His stepsisters and an Elvis impersonator intervene first, and kidnap Cynthia before Peter can explore this attraction. They take her away to a remote castle and plan on keeping her there until the company goes public. Peter comes to her rescue though, but ends up becoming a captive himself. Now, both he and Cynthia are chained to a wall in the same room and have to share a bed together. Weird things start to really happen at this point. Really weird things which almost sidetracked me from finishing the book, but I kept on reading and eventually things between Cynthia and Peter start to really heat up. This is a wild and hilarious romp, but like I said, it isn't for everybody.

A New Twist on 'Cinderella'...Elvis the Godfather style...,
By
This review is from: Love Me Tender (Leisure Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ok, this is a stretch, even for me... As the reader you have to really make believe and just 'go with the flow' to enjoy this tale. Since Mrs. Hill is by far my favorite author out there, I did just that and loved the story she was telling, via Elvis the Godfather style. A new take on the 'Happily Ever After', 'Cinderella' tale, I found it charming and hysterical, all Sandra Hill trademarks. When you take a 'shark' stockbroker named Cynthia and a 'Prince' named P.T who runs one of the most upscale shoe companies in Manhattan, throw them together via lawsuit, you get funny funny funny!!!~There was once a prince in a magic kingdom who was loved by all and along came a beautiful woman, you might say she somewhat resembled Cinderella. The Kingdom was Manhattan and the prince was a toad, well, at least that's was Cynthia 'the shark' Sullivan is saying as she pickets outside his company's main office in New York! Prince Perico Tomas de la Ferrama has been having a bad day and seeing the 'corn princess' is not making it any better. Why now when they were about to hit the stock exchange? He and his three partners had been working night and day trying to make a small wholesale shoe company what it was today, 5 years later it was selling on 5th Ave! Cynthia and P.T soon find out that his wily sisters have no intention of letting her go unless they agree to a plot that will guarantee the company not getting sued. That is where Elmer comes in and the entire goofball side characters wreck havoc! Really heartwarming and different! I loved it! Like I said, you have to keep an open mind and believe. ...fairy tales can come true, they can happen to you....... ...

Blue Suede Shoes,
By Stacy Wallace (Lumberton, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Me Tender (Leisure Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Once upon a time, in a magic kingdom, there lived a handsome prince. Prince Charming, he was called by one and all. And to this land came a gentle princess. You could say she was Cinderella. Magic kingdom? Okay, if you're going to be a stickler for accuracy, in this fairy tale the kingdom is Manhattan. But there's magic in the Big Apple, isn't there? Prince Charming? Oh, boy! You've heard the rumors, I suppose. So, he's Prince Not-So-Charming on occasion. So he drives an orange pick-up truck, not a pumpkin coach. Big deal! He is handsome. A gentle princess? Picky, picky, picky! Who says a woman has to be soft and fluffy all the time? Haven't you ever heard of PMS? Cinderella? Well, maybe she does wear blue suede shoes instead of glass slippers, but she's looking for happily-ever-after just the same. And Ms. Hill makes sure she gets her prince and her castle, not some hound dog and Heartbreak Hotel.

What a funny romance!,
This review is from: Love Me Tender (Leisure Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This modern-day Cinderella story held my interest from beginning to end. I loved the tart-tongued Cynthia and wept at the childhood of poverty that had killed her dreams. I loved the roguish Peter, who was pretending to be a prince. And the Elvis-impersonator godmother...I mean, godfather...well, he was only icing on the cake. A very enjoyable read by the very talented Ms. Hill.
