Getting Lucky, December 15, 2005
This review is from: Love Me Wicked (Paperback)
Lucky O'Rourke hasn't always lived up to his name. In the late 1890s, he ran afoul of a band of bloodthirsty vampires and with a bite, his life was changed forever. Vowing he'd never be like the men who turned him, he secludes himself away in the company of seven small Sidhe cohorts. Now a century later, he only feeds when he has no other choice.
Dara Bright has spent her life focused on her career goals. From the moment she's accepted to an Ivy League college, she has her life planned out down to the second. Nothing can distract her from her chosen path. That is, until her friend Ami convinces her to take a frivolous trip to Ireland and she wanders away from her tour group and straight into an enchanted forest.
Getting Lucky is a fresh spin on the Snow White & The Seven Dwarves story. Only this time we have a gorgeous Irish Vampire and his seven loyal, sex-crazed fairies. And I have to say, I definitely prefer Ms. Savage's take on that tale!
It's no secret that I'm a devoted Lacey Savage fan. She's one of those authors who always delivers an enjoyable book, no matter the story or the characters. In Getting Lucky she pens the hottest book I've read of hers to date. The passion between Lucky and Dara is instantaneous and rages with a fire hot enough to burn the pages. They are well matched, not only in temperament but also in sexual needs, and each time they come together is hotter than one before.
However, this book isn't just one long sexual fantasy. As always, Ms. Savage includes an emotional connection between her characters that makes the sex that much more meaningful. My only disappointment is that this book wasn't longer. I'd have dearly loved more time with Lucky, Dara and the charming, eccentric fairies. Perhaps Ms. Savage will return in a later story to that enchanted Irish forest. I wouldn't mind taking a trip there myself!
