5.0 out of 5 stars How To Be A Better Cancer Survivor, June 27, 2005
By
Patrick Doherty (Birmingham, Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love, Medicine and Miracles (Paperback)
Bernie Siegel is the founder of ECAP (Exceptional Cancer Patients) and much of this book is drawn from his experiences with these patients. The purpose of the book is to help cancer survivors to become exceptional patients who learn to embrace life more fully and live longer. Usually these patients are able to take control of their lives and treatments in partnership with their doctors. There is a connection between mind and body which can be exploited in order to maximize chances for recovery. The will to live is very important in this process. In arguably the most interesting chapter of the text, the author describes the characteristics of exceptional patients and other notable survivors. The book provides much information and hope which anyone battling cancer will find uplifting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just As Good the Second Time Around!, November 13, 2007
This review is from: Love, Medicine and Miracles (Paperback)
I read this book over ten years ago and just recently got around to reading it again. I enjoyed it just as much this time as the first time. As a cancer survivor, I could relate easily to Dr. Siegel's emphasis on the mind-body relationship and all that goes with that premise. I used visual imagery and some of his other recommended treatments during my cancer journey and I agree with everything he says. I love his passion and I love all his anecdotal material as he shares some of his patients' health journeys with us. A most inspiring read! Highly Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars "LOVE IS THE MIRACLE CURE!", October 20, 2005
This review is from: Love, Medicine and Miracles (Paperback)
All surgeons do not use knives and scalpels, rather many practice a holistic approach -- "love, medicine, and miracles."

Bernie Siegel writes just such a book that every home should have. He shares his factual experiences with exceptional patients, who through much of his efforts, learn valuable lessons about self-healing. Much of Siegel's experiences shared in his "love heals teaching," evolved from his founding ECaP, a group of exceptional cancer and AIDS patients.

Directing the reader to the causes of many of the diseases in the first of two parts in his book, Dr. Siegel helps bring clarity to the reason for these illnesses -- the body embodied by the mind. And after the discovery of the problem, Siegel, in part two, assists the patient to the pathways that in many instances restore total and complete health. Even in death, the author reveals lessons that can only be a must for all.

Imagine mental imagery as a means to begin a process of healing -- a female patient turns household chores into healing moments by imagining that her dishwashing suds are washing away her disease. All of the miracles, whether little or small, seem to germinate from unconditional love, especially the processes of forgiveness and transcending fear! Many of the patients are now living lives of endless fruition and Divine peace through "love, medicine, and miracles."

. . . The affinity of love with medicine can work miracles because the reader and patient find out that "There is no disease that enough love cannot heal . . . "

"LOVE IS THE MIRACLE CURE!"
