How To Be A Better Cancer Survivor,
By Patrick Doherty (Birmingham, Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love, Medicine and Miracles (Paperback)
Bernie Siegel is the founder of ECAP (Exceptional Cancer Patients) and much of this book is drawn from his experiences with these patients. The purpose of the book is to help cancer survivors to become exceptional patients who learn to embrace life more fully and live longer. Usually these patients are able to take control of their lives and treatments in partnership with their doctors. There is a connection between mind and body which can be exploited in order to maximize chances for recovery. The will to live is very important in this process. In arguably the most interesting chapter of the text, the author describes the characteristics of exceptional patients and other notable survivors. The book provides much information and hope which anyone battling cancer will find uplifting.

Just As Good the Second Time Around!,
By Sandra McLeod Humphrey "Children's Author and... (Minnetonka, MN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love, Medicine and Miracles (Paperback)
I read this book over ten years ago and just recently got around to reading it again. I enjoyed it just as much this time as the first time. As a cancer survivor, I could relate easily to Dr. Siegel's emphasis on the mind-body relationship and all that goes with that premise. I used visual imagery and some of his other recommended treatments during my cancer journey and I agree with everything he says. I love his passion and I love all his anecdotal material as he shares some of his patients' health journeys with us. A most inspiring read! Highly Recommended!

"LOVE IS THE MIRACLE CURE!",
By Terrence M. Cummings "tmC-testifying to mirac... (Blythewood, South Carolina) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Love, Medicine and Miracles (Paperback)
All surgeons do not use knives and scalpels, rather many practice a holistic approach -- "love, medicine, and miracles."
Bernie Siegel writes just such a book that every home should have. He shares his factual experiences with exceptional patients, who through much of his efforts, learn valuable lessons about self-healing. Much of Siegel's experiences shared in his "love heals teaching," evolved from his founding ECaP, a group of exceptional cancer and AIDS patients. Directing the reader to the causes of many of the diseases in the first of two parts in his book, Dr. Siegel helps bring clarity to the reason for these illnesses -- the body embodied by the mind. And after the discovery of the problem, Siegel, in part two, assists the patient to the pathways that in many instances restore total and complete health. Even in death, the author reveals lessons that can only be a must for all. Imagine mental imagery as a means to begin a process of healing -- a female patient turns household chores into healing moments by imagining that her dishwashing suds are washing away her disease. All of the miracles, whether little or small, seem to germinate from unconditional love, especially the processes of forgiveness and transcending fear! Many of the patients are now living lives of endless fruition and Divine peace through "love, medicine, and miracles." . . . The affinity of love with medicine can work miracles because the reader and patient find out that "There is no disease that enough love cannot heal . . . " "LOVE IS THE MIRACLE CURE!" This book gave me hope,
By
This review is from: Love, Medicine and Miracles (Paperback)
When i was first diagnosed with brain cancer (and given a terminal diagnosis) I pretty much gave up hope. Then a friend sent me a copy of Bernie Siegel's book 'Love Medicine and Miracles' and i realized that i could become an 'exceptional patient'. This book is a call to self responsibility to all cancer patients and a reminder that their healing is not dependent on medical science but is founded on their willingness to live, to love and to boldly take responsibility for their lives. As a cancer survivor i recommend this book to anybody facing a health challenge.
Thanks Bernie. By David Elliot, author of You Don't have To Die When Your Doctor Says: A practical guide to living with grace and joy in the face of a terminal prognosis.

Cancer Survivor 2008,

This review is from: Love, Medicine and Miracles (Paperback)
When I learned I had stage 3 Breast Cancer with Lymphatic Involvement I never once thought I would not make it . Having had 3 tragedies in my Life within a 10 mo. period before that including losing my 22 yr old Son to Lung Cancer , MY Daddy to suicide and my sister at 44 to unknown cause. My attitude was that of embracement . I just accepted my Cancer as one more issue or hurdle in Life I needed to get through. Multiple surgeries and I just accepted going through Chemotherapy and did not prolong my decision to do so . I always went in knowing Ok I am going to be on the couch for 2 days after each Chemo session of 4 hours. I had a mindset that I was going to do whatever it takes to get through this and simply did what I had to do. Each week after I went through Chemo I would go into to get the big shot due to my white cells crashing and afterwards my Boyfriend and I would hit the road on a 12 hr drive to go from Texas to New Mexico where his 87 yr old Daddy lived in the middle of the New Mexico dessert. Once there we would stay to help him and his wife of 8 yrs who had Alzheimers. We remodeled his home by tearing out old carpet and laying a nice new tile floor , We cleaned out all his Clutter , took care of his dogs which were overdue for grooming needs and we also worked around his place cutting up old cars and cutting up metals he had laying around for years. We Made some extra money at the scrap yard and came back in time for my next round of Chemo. I was on disability and found it very hard to make ends meet but we did not waste time dwelling on what we did not have or could NOT DO . We kept our focus on what we did have and all that we COULD DO . I was able to return to my job as a fLIGHT Attendant for AAL within 11 and half mos . I live Cancer Free today and have not slowed down to worry about or question WHY. I feel I have a job to do now and hope that my story can serve as an inspiration and give hope to those like me faced with any crisus in their lives. Your MINDSET IS CRITICAL in determining your outcome. FOCUS on the GOOD and reach deep down within and you shall find all that you need to be a Survivor. The last thing I did was alot of research ..about Cancer remedies and remaining Cancer Free ..I found and have been taking this one product for almost 2 yrs now. Natural Cellular Defense from Volcanic minerals which remove heavy metal , toxins and chemicals while also balancing PH LEVELS . http://www.myncd.com/589972 and now it is even in an organic Chocolate called Chava with over 37,000 ORAC VALUE! Who would have ever thought we could eat chocolate and Detox ! that website is [...] it comes by the case eating 2-3 squares a day gives you 10-15 drops of NCD. It is amazing I I hope to share it with the world so that we can ALL realize better health and vitality in today's environment that we live in ... Blessing to all! ATTITUDE is Everything! <3 Kay Woodward

A Therapeutic Resource Indeed!,
By MolliannaGlamorama (Brooklyn, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love, Medicine and Miracles (Paperback)
This book provides an incredible narrative about the power of the mind in influencing disease and health. Medical treatments are indeed influenced by our emotional coping, our stories, our relationships. The presence or absence of love is so critical in healing, and Siegel's account is filled with depth and beauty. It gives much hope to anyone with chronic illnesses
