This review is from: For the Love of Mike (Men Made in America: Texas #43) (Mass Market Paperback)
Candace Schuler is a fun author to read and FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE is a true romance story. In it, Ms. Schuler applies the art of wooing and applies it generously. Sigh!

Young Houston billionaire Devlin Wingate was not very happy to discover that his airport chauffeur was a woman dressed in a man's clothing. Yet, the skinny little chauffeur fascinated him. What was about "Mike" Frazer that turned Devlin's head? Was it her freckled face? Her "startled doe" look? Her ginger-colored hair? Her fiery temper? Her tough independence? No matter! Devlin Wingate knew he wanted Michaelann Augusta Frazer and soon! The little lady was definitely his kind of challenge!

Yet, little "Mike" was driving him insane. She was drawing him in like a moth to a burning flame. The independent little fireball was definitely making him crazy with her "no" answers. Was she simply playing hard to get? No matter, she had him wanting!

"Mike" was very proud of her achievements. Throughout her life, she had worked hard and now she proudly owned Unicorn Limousine Service. She did not need Mr. "Fancy Pants" Wingate. She did not need the President of Wingate Industries in her life! The man was too big-headed, too arrogant, and too egotistical. So why was he doing this? Michaelann had nothing to attract a rich playboy like Devlin Wingate. The man was crazy; he was definitely crazy!

Yet, the man was getting to her. He was sending her delicate roses, delivering singing telegrams, and taking her out on romantic picnics. For the first time in her life, someone was making Michaelann feel special, treasured, and desired. For the first time in her life, the tomboy "Mike" felt beautiful!

Unmistakably, a man like Devlin Wingate could be very easy to get used to . . . very easy to fall in love with. Yet, it would never work. The whole idea of marrying him was preposterous!

To tell her story, Candace Schuler relies on quick humor, rapid pacing, and the gentle essence of romantic courtship. In addition, FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE has an ending the reader cheers for. Overall, Ms. Schuler's work is not a bad way to savor the art of wooing!
