5.0 out of 5 stars A nice collection of stories December 10, 2012
By Sy Lee
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed everyone of these stories...three books and a short story.

The stories are independent with no repeated characters.

In order to be humorous, the characters were a little "out there," but that added to the fun.

The first story, "Party Crashers," centers on Jolie Goodman as a new salesperson for Neiman Marcus footwear department. She is grateful for this job because she quit her previous one over a question of ethics. She is "invited" to a party and therein begins the zaniness of party crashing and, of course, a murder or two.

In the second story, "In Deep Voodoo," Penny Francisco is newly divorced and owns a business across the street from her ex. His new love interest is painting "her" house, okay the house that her ex got in the settlement, pink...bright pink. There are many fleshed-out characters in this mystery that involves a good-looking PI who is searching for missing children. This book isn't as humorous, but it has its moments.

Roxann Beadleman helps relocate moms and children who have been in abusive relationships in "Got Your Number."
In the process she loses her job, finds her father, and a new love. None of the characters are reminiscent of those in the other books. The humor in this story centers on Roxann's quirky relationship with her cousin.

In "Bump in the Night," a short story, the protagonist proclaims that nothing good happens after midnight. She is divorced and opens her door to a not-so-former lover. By the end of the story we have seen a murder solved and her relationship with her ex resolved. A very complete and well-developed short story.

Though some serious topics underlie some of the stories, they are still light and enjoyable.

It is a great set of books for an extended and enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mystery and Murder December 15, 2012

This set of books are brilliant to read with a dash of humour, fast action and a lot of suspense and romance. Each of these books are a stand alone read in their own right. Working out the murders is not easy as the plots are great and keep you guessing to the end. I highly recommend this set of books.

3.0 out of 5 stars nothing spectacular, 3rd story the best March 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Got this from lending library, therefore do not regret money. However, time? First story was ok. Second was a sleeper, too predictable. The third story was the best of the lot and the short story was a waste of time. In fact after reading all the stories close together you can see the repetition of plotline clearly, even down to dialog repetition. I gave it a 3 because of the 3rd story mainly. It is an ok read, but recommend borrowing it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Major formatting problems! December 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The books themselves, -- at least the first book, was entertaining and lighthearted
but I will request a refund! books two and three are virtually unreadable with
mixed up sentences and paragraphs. Publisher needs to fix!!!

More About the Author

Stephanie Bond was several years into a corporate computer programming career when an instructor in her night school MBA program remarked that she had a flair for writing and encouraged her to submit one of her projects to academic journals. "But," Stephanie says, "all I could think was 'I wonder if I could write a romance novel?'" Bond grew up on a farm in eastern Kentucky where the entertainment choices were few. Luckily, she had a beloved aunt who shared her passion for reading. "When she visited once a year, she brought boxes and boxes of gothic novels by Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney and lush historical romances--I was in heaven! So suddenly thinking about writing in the genre of the books I loved was very exciting." After writing every spare moment for two years, Stephanie sold her first romantic comedy manuscript, IRRESISTIBLE? to Harlequin books. Two years later, she walked away from her corporate career to write commercial fiction full time. To date, she's published over 60 romance and mystery projects with Random House, St. Martin's Press, HarperCollins, and Mira Books, and is most well-known for her BODY MOVERS humorous mystery series. Her newest series is TWO GUYS DETECTIVE AGENCY (about two sisters whose last name is Guy). Stephanie lives in midtown Atlanta and is probably working on a story at this very moment.
