5.0 out of 5 stars The sound has arrived!
Love has been one of my favorite albums for twenty + years. As I grew older though, I became less and less impressed with the production levels. This really brings a full sound as it was always meant to be heard. The sound doesn't stop at the album itself either, it is consistent through the singles, and the live set is great too.

If you've ever loved this...

1.0 out of 5 stars Too bad the remaster brickwalled everything...
A lost chance to bring new luster to this masterpiece.
The sound engineers clearly messed everything up. The sound is unlistenable!

If you've ever loved this album, the upgrade is well worth it, one of the few upgrades of this type that really delivers. If you've never heard it, this is an incredible introductory set to the Cult.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Sound, Excellent Value, November 12, 2009
This review is from: Love (Omnibus Edition) (Audio CD)
I was hesitant to buy this set because the mastering on the last two releases from the cult has been atrocious (Born into This & Beyond Good and Evil). Super loud, brickwalled, clipped, zero dynamic range, heavy digital distortion, fatiguing, are some of the ways I'd describe those two albums. I listened to them once and then sold them. For more info you can google 'loudness war'.

Luckily this set does not suffer from the same terminal problem. It's not an audiophile mastering, but it is a good mastering. There is enough dynamic range so that the music has some punch to it. The drums hits do make an impact, unlike say Beyond Good and Evil where the drums make no impact whatsoever and the distortion is brutal. The bass too sound nice and full on this release, unlike the the last two releases. All in all, the guy at Loud Mastering did a good job (maybe they should rename the mastering house 'not too Loud Mastering).

The packaging is fantastic, I don't think Beggars cut any corners on this one.

So if you're a cult fan, get this before its OPP.

5.0 out of 5 stars What I've always wished for!, July 15, 2010

Hang your head no more and beg no more! Not only does this Omnibus Edition bring Love in all its beauty - and a lot more powerful and clear - it offers three other essential cds and an incredible, comprehensive book full of insights into the recording period with quotes from everyone involved. It does illumimate some dark corners... Read on, everybody!
Also, being able to listen to the Singles and Demos cds with amazing rare tracks is pure delight, and so is the 1985 concert at the Hammersmith arena where it's possible to feel all the excitement and freshness of this music. Now 25 years after, it's a real 'blast from the past', as Ian puts it when introducing Christians.
The concept behind the box is just perfect, and the mini vynil replicas are more than adequate. I couldn't have asked for more. This is the Cult at its most adventurous and unique.
I'd say this is the eternal reward for all of us who've waited so patiently for this treasure to be unearthed and released. Love obviously very soon everybody at long last!

This a very nice box set, as is the remastered sound. This album has never sounded better and just about every conceivable extra is included. The book is very nice and the mini-LP replica CDS are reproduced with every minor detail in mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Dream Album, September 18, 2011
This review is from: Love (Omnibus Edition) (Audio CD)
I have totally been window shopping this album for almost 2 years. I have always viewed the Cult's Love album as quintessential Cult, but to hear alternate takes on songs like Rain and She Sells Sanctuary and a live version of Nirvana (my all time favorite) would be just Heaven. But bear in mind, that these are just wishes. Now I have to save up my money and actually buy it. I'm pretty sure after I purchase and listen to it, it will make for a great review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Missing!!!, January 25, 2011

This set was purchased as a gift. Out of the four discs, the main one was missing even though the set was still factory sealed when it was opened by the recipient. Has anyone else experienced this problem with this set? Thank you.
