Someone please ask Sandra Kitt to write another REAL INTERRACIAL ROMANCE NOVEL,
By
This review is from: Love Out of Order (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am tired of these writers picking up a pen and writing this unbelievable BS. I know people hardly write with pen and paper anymore. But maybe we should go back to the basics and learn something. I am tired of the lack of character development in this book. I am tired of the weak/whiney/annoying supporting characters. Like all of the negative reviewers before me, I agree that this story was not a romance. This was a story of a freshman high school dramedy. I am sick of these writers writing the voice of a weak, illogical, desperate Black woman. Where are the Strong Black women in these stories? I want someone to find it within themselves to write a story with literary archetypes.
It just makes me think that these writers are just as insecure as their characters. Perhaps, I should just write something my damn self. This was totally bananas!

Too one sided for me,
By
This review is from: Love Out of Order (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I really tried to like this book; but I felt that this book was too one sided in the main female character's favor to be a true romance. Yes, John didn't always make the best decisions regarding their relationship; but Denise was always demanding that he prove his love to her when she did nothing to fight for her love to him. She was always so eager for him to let her down so she could say "I told you that you didn't really love me"; but she never seemed wonder why he made the decisions that he did or what caused him to react in certain ways. After completely reading this novel; I felt like that I had only touched the surface of who John was and what his life was like before Denise and Denise was content with that because between her and her friends; it was all about her pain. At the end of this book, I didn't feel like I knew anything of any depth about John and I felt that he was getting short changed in this "relationship". He lost his whole family except for his brother and his whole way of life for loving her; yet it was still all about Denise and her inability to truly deal with the pain of being dumped by a former lover. Things don't always work out the way that we would like them to; but if we don't learn from these disappointments and truly move forward, then anything that comes afterwards is a waste. I just couldn't see this relationship lasting in the long term.

HIgh School Drama,
By Raphaella Armenti (Outside, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Out of Order (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
This story would only work if the situation was high school. Two adults in Law school should know what they want in a relationship, interracial or other wise. Why would a grown man let his father dictate his life. To me, that is not the type of man you want in your life. What else can't he decide for himself. At the end of the day mama and daddy are not sleeping in either of their beds. The story dragged on and on like teenagers about to be thrown out of the house.

Please do not buy,
By Denise (North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Out of Order (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I would NOT recommend this book. The characters in the novel are not likable. Denise is a harpy and John is spineless. The author has no romantic build-up the supporting characters are just as unlikeable and the plot is contrived. Some of the situations seem dated. I believe racism is just as pervasive but would not manifest in this fashion. Racist are much more subtle these days.

Not a Romance,
By Paula "RomanceBK" (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Out of Order (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I would not consider this a romance. The book focused more on law school and the heroine's melodramatics. The "couple" in the middle of the book were mostly apart. Too much detail on everything, but how or why these two became so in love. It happened way too fast and wasn't believable. I felt John was always proclaiming his love for Denise, while she just whined about how everything is so hard for her. John in one scene confronts Sarah that she never asked him how he was feeling in regards to his disownment from his family. She just came off very selfish and spineless. Spineless, because she constantly allowed her so-called best friend bully her. Astoria was a nightmare and anyone who has a friend like that should run for the hills. She was moronic, ignorant and didn't grow throughout the 300+ pages. Just kept spilling the same nonsense. I know interracial relationships could be hard and facing discrimination is a reality, but for once I would like to read an interracial romance, where the Black woman isn't so hard and or constantly spewing about racism and the white man. I just want a love story w/o being hit over the head/ reminded about their race.

I generally dislike books written in the first person because there tends to be a lack of character development of the narrator. However, that was not the biggest problem with this book. The biggest problem is that this book is supposed to be a romance and it is not. I agree with the other reviewers in that it is not a believable tale of the romance between two law school students. It is more a story of high school angst. The characters are immature, annoying and overall unpleasant. I did not find myself rooting for these characters. John and Denise did not make a believable couple. The entire relationship did not make sense nor was it developed in any way and the ending was a strained, unrealistic rush to bring about a ending that was supposed to be happy but was just not quite right.

Just wasnt right,
This review is from: Love Out of Order (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I tried to finish the book but I couldn't it was very hard to get into. Like other readers I found it to be very childish. I kept forgetting that they were adults in law school. I also found found the supporting characters very annoying.

(RAW Rating: 3.5) - The Heart Want What It Wants,

LOVE OUT OF ORDER by Nicole Green features law school students Denise, an African-American and John, a Caucasian. In the midst of law school, the last thing on Denise's mind is a romance and certainly not a romance with a white boy. Much to the dismay of her friends of all races, Denise's lust for John should be off limits. John on the other hand, cannot seem to stay away from Denise.
The story at times is labored; however, the author Green does present the emotional needs and drama of the main characters in a realistic manner. While some of the rationales and behaviors presented by the secondary characters are over the top. The banter and chaos between the friends and family's of each is, at times, humorous but so tragic. The old clichés and taboos of interracial dating are played out and the author Green does a good job of highlighting the prejudices still prevalent in our society. So much so, you find yourself rooting for this couple to make it. Reviewed by Dawn R. Reeves of The RAWSISTAZ(tm) Reviewers

No Way These Two Should Be Together,
This review is from: Love Out of Order (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this book because the blurb led me to believe something that was not there. I try to give new writers a chance, but I am unsure that I will pick up another of her books. There is no way in this day and age that this bs is what I would call romance. The main characters were weak. They spent more time in drama than pursuing a healthy relationship. In truth, what man would give up his wealth and future when the relationship was unhealthy to begin with knowing his family wanted him to make a different and knowing they were racist? I certainly would not expect this. It just made no sense how these two ended up together. I got to the point where I skipped sections. Her friends were racist and his family was racist. While he may not have been racist, she surely had to be because of her continued choice of friends. I was really disappointed in this book. But the title was accurate: Love was out of order.

Are you kidding me?,
By
This review is from: Love Out of Order (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I found Love Out of Order to be very sophomoric. I couldn't believe that Denise and John were adults in Law School. I didn't even finish reading the book because I found it to be a big disappointment in the story line. It was too dragged out with secondary characters, and just to adolescent. I believe that all of the characters need to finish growing up before they try to get into an adult relationship.
