A Love Out of Time - a great read,
By Jane Ann (WV) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Love Out Of Time (Paperback)
A Love Out of Time is a great book filled with action and romance. The further into the book I got, the more I found myself unable to put the book down. At times I was on edge as time began to run out for Matt and Amanda.
The writer did an excellent job in bringing the characters to life and painting the picture of what life would have been like in Montrose, Pennsylvania back in 1896. My heart ached for Matt as he had to decide his and Amanda's fate. Also, Matt had a job to do and would he let his own love for Amanda get in the way of his rescue mission of the son of a dear friend. I could not wait to get to the end of the book to find out how Matt would work it all out - but there is suspense in getting to the final page - you must read this book and find out if Matt is loyal to his rescue mission or if he follows his heart, which could in the end alter history. A Love Out of Time is an easy read and it's enjoyable. It's filled with action and suspense, but the romance adds much to book. I don't think you will be disappointed with this story.

Pleasantly surprised by this book!,

I was looking for a good adventure novel, saw this one and thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did!
This book is very entertaining, easy to read, and has adventure, sci-fi, romance, and suspense, all along with an ending you don't expect. The writer did an excellent job with the story, and has really brought the characters and settings to life. I found myself not wanting to put it down. This is a great "all-around" book that most people would like. I'd recommend this book to anyone.

If you're looking for a thought-provoking time travel story that will keep you turning pages late into the night, I suggest looking elsewhere. (Time and Again by Jack Finney comes to mind.) This book isn't horrible, but it certainly isn't worth $15. It was the author's first attempt at fiction (kudos for the effort) and it read like it at times -- over-explaining mundane things like how the main character prepared for bed each night and the feelings he felt for the woman of his dreams. Perhaps a young teenage girl would enjoy the love story aspect of this novel but not a seasoned aficionado of time travel fiction. We demand deep characters, vivid descriptions of the time period, a solid plot, and minimal mush. Is that asking too much?

good story, so-so writing,

While the book has an intriguing hook, the author's use of language does not rise above a basic and literal reporting of the sequence of events, especially early on. He tells us practically every time Matt Collins showers and shaves, for example, and walks us slowly through his first day in Montrose with painstaking detail. Although I liked the story and thought the plot was decent, I found myself wishing it could have been handled by a more experienced writer who could give the reader more subtlety and depth in crafting the story. The author gets us from point a to point b, (and back to a), but the ride's a little flat.

I thought it must be a children's book,

Time travel is my favorite subject in a novel, so I thought I would give this one a try. My main objections to this book are the use of a very simple vocabulary and lack of character development, especially in the relationship between the main characters. While reading this book, I thought it must be a children's book. Although, I have 4 children and have read quite a few of the same books they have read, many with extensive vocabularies and plenty of character development. I agree with the review that Sparky wrote and wish the book had had more depth.

A CUTE TIME TRAVEL ROMANCE,

This review is from: A Love Out Of Time (Paperback)
This is the first time I review a book! I've already bought countless books from Amazon, though. I didn't dislike the book, however I think it could have had more romance, passion between the main couple. Several pages deal with the mechanisms of the device which allows the characters to travel through time.
