5.0 out of 5 stars C'est si bon !!!, February 5, 2009

(TOP 50 REVIEWER)
I Love Paris is a fine CD that gives us eighteen remarkable songs to create that Parisian mood wherever and whenever you feel like vicariously visiting Paris! The quality of the sound is excellent and I really like that artwork, too. There is a good diversity of artists on this CD and the package insert includes brief notes about each song as well.

"C'est Si Bon (This Is So Good)" starts the CD off with a classic French tune from the 1950s, if I recall correctly. Les Halles never misses a beat, either! I must confess that I have a preference for Eartha Kitt's rendition of this timeless love song; but Les Halles' version is pretty impressive as well. It certainly makes a strong beginning number for this album. "Under The Bridges Of Paris" sports a fine arrangement for the accordion and that's grand. "Under The bridges Of Paris" features the talents of L'Accordeoniste and I think you'll like this instrumental number very much. "Under The Bridges Of Paris" is wonderful for slow dancing with your sweetheart, too.

"I Love Paris," the title track on this CD, gets the royal treatment from Dan Deauville who performs this number to perfection--and beyond! I enjoy this number and the arrangement is very well written with good use of the horn and string sections. Listen also for "Boum (Bang);" "Boum" showcases Guillaume LeLoup who sings this brilliantly. "Boum" is a major highlight of this CD.

"Je Ne Regrette (which roughly translates to I Don't Regret)" is done by Café Accordien Du Paris; I would have much preferred to get the rendition by Edith Piaf but perhaps there was an issue getting the license to have Edith's version on this CD. Anyway, Café Accordien Du Paris does this well--but who's that lady singing? The liner notes give us no clue. In addition, "Chanson D'Amour (Song Of Love)" is done to perfection by Paris Express; "Chanson D'Amour" charms me with its beauty and it yet another highlight of this album. "Milord" is an outstanding class I first heard when Edith Piaf sang it; and I really like "Michelle" by Michel McLean. Michel McLean sings this Beatles song with a lot of class; The Beatles would have certainly approved!

"Love Is Blue" is a classic tune performed by Luc Montrose that you may well recognize the moment you hear just the intro to this fine melody; and "The Summer Knows" strikes me with its beauty. The album ends well with another number performed by Guillaume LeLoup entitled "La Mer (The Sea)." "La Mer" has some remarkable music to go with Guillaume's singing and it leaves you wanting more!

I Love Paris is an excellent CD of classic French tunes and ballads that will always be remembered and performed over and over again--they're unequivocally timeless. I highly recommend this CD for fans of French music; and people just getting into this genre of music will not be disappointed.
