4.0 out of 5 stars Great love poems, organization could be better, April 10, 2005
This review is from: 365 Love Poems (Hardcover)
This is a nice collection of love poems on the various aspects of love, from the beautiful to the sad: the meaning of love, young love, declarations of love, with eyes of love, married love, the anguish of love, the twilight of love, lost love. The choice of poems, and the poems themselves, are excellent. I only have one problem with the book - how it is organized. The poems are grouped by topic, which is great for organization, until you hit a sad section and end up feeling almost depressed by the time you get through it all from all the sad poems you read, whether one a day or many in a setting. Certainly, the one a day habit, as the 365 poems would suggest, could leave you in a season of depression (and one of glee for the happier chapters) by the time you're done the chapter. Of course, you don't have to read it all in order, but then that makes it harder for you to keep track. I think to have them randomly dispersed, with lists of poems related to those topics to which the reader could refer, would be great. Maybe a few more happy love poems wouldn't be a bad idea, either.
