Classic Radical Lesbian Music! Gotta love Alix.,

This is classic 70s-based "second wave feminism" wimmin's music. If that's not what you're looking for, you're probably going to be thrown for a loop. :)
Alix Dobkin is one of THE names in wimmin's music -- her music is powerful and it will absolutely touch you where your heart is ... IF you identify with her politics. If you don't, well, let's just say this is a woman who doesn't pull her punches! She lays it out as she sees it, and if you don't like it, too bad. This woman is a *radical feminist* in the true sense of the term "radical feminist" (as opposed to liberal feminist, socialist feminist, etc.). Look it up if you have no idea what I'm talking about. The moral of the story is: I suggest checking out some of her lyrics before you purchase the CD. That should give you an idea of whether this is the CD for you. The musical style itself is, as mentioned above, "wimmin's" music. That means it's written/played by a woman, but it also means more than that; not all music written by women qualifies as wimmin's music. Wimmin's/womyn's/women's music is a *specific style.* Lots of acoustic guitar -- great for singing in a big circle of womyn. :) If you already know you love Alix -- this is a good mix of her music. Buy it! :)

She pulls no punches. Yes, the truth does hurt.
Whenever I feel depressed or angry at the state of the world, this is among the albums I listen to. She takes the patriarchy out behind the barn, and gives it a good pounding, Xena-style. I might add that I have had the pleasure of attending one of her concerts, and meeting her personally. She is a warm friendly person and only bashes those males who need it. Only problem is that takes in most of us!
