5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! Similar to late alice cooper
This album RULES! .

It is a collection of real raw rock 'n' roll songs from a very cool band indeed.

This band has a singer who sounds like a cross between Alice Cooper and Ricky Warwick from The Almighty (Who really rocked before they went grunge/punk). Some of the 'ad-lib' speeches on this album are very funny and cheesy indeed and the lyrics are just amazing. for...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but not great
These guys aren't very impressive really. But they DON'T suck. If anything, their few difficult to play parts are what saves them from total crashing destruction. So, as players I can give them credit, as song writers.....bah.

This album RULES! .

It is a collection of real raw rock 'n' roll songs from a very cool band indeed.

This band has a singer who sounds like a cross between Alice Cooper and Ricky Warwick from The Almighty (Who really rocked before they went grunge/punk). Some of the 'ad-lib' speeches on this album are very funny and cheesy indeed and the lyrics are just amazing. for example: "Well I love TV and I love T-Rex, I can see though ya skin, I got x-ray specs" -Completely nuts but very well written.

I am also very impressed with the guitar and drums on this album. If you love hard rock with lots and lots of cliches then this is definitely one for the collection.

This has to be one of the craziest metal albums around!

Some of this stuff sounds a lot like alice cooper on 'Hey stoopid' and if you like that album then you'll like this too. Zodiac Mindwarp actually wrote 'Feed my frankenstein' from that album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Of Zodiac, January 23, 2005
This review is from: Love Reaction:The Best of Zodiac Mindwarp (Audio CD)
Although this is nothing more than the Tattooed Beat Messiah album without the speechs, I'm still gonna get it. Zodiac Mindwarp was the most underrated metal artist ever. In my opinion he should have been a lot bigger than he was. Buy this album. In fact buy all of 'em while you can. These are tough to come by.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, July 12, 2002

I bought the album in '88 and finally found it, thanks to amazon.com, on CD! This is a rockin' CD. If you love the older heavy metal down and dirty turn-it-up in your face music, then I highly recommend this CD. The lyrics are very typical Mark Manning (Z) and you begin to believe him when he yells, "NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!" I love it! Track 15 haunts me. The music is tight. The changes good, and the guitar kicks!

I got the tape way back in '89.. Crushed it.. then got another.. About six years ago started looking for the CD.. Damn hard to find..

Oh, god, I remember seeing the vid for Prime Mover.. Really cool. Definately before their time.. If this had come out today it woukld be played with the likes of PM5K, Godsmack, Primus...etc.. Still holds up after 11 years. IT ROCKS!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to find in the street, but well worth the effort, June 9, 2000

I first bought the LP many moons ago after seeing the video to 'Prime Mover' on some late night TV show in NZ (if you ever get a chance check the video out it's a classic, lets just say it involves a dormitory in a Catholic Girls School, a few motor cycles and the band).

I'm no metal head, but bought the LP as soon as it was released and never regretted it. The album still gets played whenever my wife and kids leave the house. There's only one way to play this album, and it's LOUD.

For the last couple of years I've been looking in bricks and mortar stores in NZ (new and second hand) for the CD version but recently gave up. After finding it available here I immediately ordered it. P.S. This is the first item I've ever bought from Amazon.

What a balltearer of an album this is! If you like it hard, loud and fast with guitar riffs and drums that will have you holding onto your seat...then this is the album for you. Is it tongue in cheek?.....Who Cares! Forget any of the wannabe's...this is how it should be...loud and heavy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight Ahead Hard Rock, July 10, 1999

This album blew me away when it was first release oh, so long ago. Extremely hard rockin', yet melodically inclined as well, with severely cheeky lyrics. Absolutely a must-have if you love rock 'n' roll.

but i love it. i got this on cassette the day it came out.the guy at my local record store was just back from distributer (i remember little things like that when it comes to music) anyway, GnR were getting huge at this time and there were a lot of bands trying for that type of sound. i was a sucker and got a pretty good amount of cassettes of these bands just from a video or magazine some stuck some sucked one that really stood out was this album.and it is really called TATOOED BEAT MESSIAH. its sound is dirty, sleazy cock rock.i love all kinds of rock music prog, metal, hard rock, jazz fusion.but this i always come back to.as i was fading out my cassette collection around 1990-1992 my cassette of this broke and could'nt find another anywhere.then at a local pawn shop had it (pawn shops were great to buy used cd's)this was about 1996 im now going to get the remastered w/bonus tracks.other cd's that i recomend is vain-no respect enuff z nuff-well anything from them. dirty looks-cool from the wire.

5.0 out of 5 stars old school fun, August 10, 2009
By
This review is from: Love Reaction:The Best of Zodiac Mindwarp (Audio CD)
this album is tattooed beat messiah without the cheesy, funny speeches in between songs, but it is their best full length lp.
i just wish that they would have put the "wild child" 12" and the 6 song ep on this disc, because those earlier 2 releases are actually the best stuff they ever did. (imo). but nonetheless, this disc brings back old memories of when records ruled and i actually had money to go to the record stores 2-3 times a week. im sure there's alot of you who remember this back in the day, but if youre just getting into zodiac, this and the 2 earlier releases are the ones to look for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will never go out of style, December 13, 2004

Many years after its release, I still love this album. Its got that "heavy metal dance" sound that so many record labels still seem to be searching for. If you take this too serious, you might not like it. If you approach with an open mind and want to have fun, it rocks. "This is a special car baby - two accelerators, no brakes!" Yeah! Personal bonus - I saw these guys on their tour supporting the release of this album. I remember 3 things: 1) They were really loud 2) They clearly loved what they were doing 3) They did a completely amazing cover of Wham's "Baby, I'm your man." It sounded way better than the Wham version!
