Good Resource -- Not the Typical Sun-Sign Diagnostics,
By Brian Emo (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Love Relationship Formula: Predicting Romantic Success with Astrology (Paperback)
This book is a desperately-needed addition to the current barrage of crass, commercial, nonsensical, and juvenile information about relationship analysis -- which is typically rife with sun-sign cliches and shallow, silly information that is ultimately meaningless and unhelpful in seriously evaluating the energies between 2 people. If you appreciated books such as Arroyo's "Relationships & Life Cycles" and Lois Sargeants "How to Handle Your Human Relations," then give it a try. While "formulas" are generally disappointing in application, and can be rather limiting, Rakela's Love Relationship Formula comes about as close as possible to a viable framework from which to analyze what's going on between people. Descriptions of planetary pairs in combination (synastry) are on-target and logical. In a field of mostly junk astrology literature these days, this book breaks through the clutter.

This review is from: The Love Relationship Formula: Predicting Romantic Success with Astrology (Paperback)
This book is a well-written, clear, comprehensive, and easy-to-understand text for evaluating potential in relationships. Its explanations are based on intelligent astrology that offers suggestions for navigating successfully the challenges inherent in difficult aspects in synastry. Seasoned astrologers and novices alike can benefit from the wisdom Rakela offers. This book goes beyond many others on the same topic because of its explanations of the role of midpoints, Mercury Retrograde, lunar and solar returns, and void-of-course Moons. While there is little on composite charts, it does take other works another step further in including useful astrological information about meeting charts, marriage charts, and what types of people one will likely be drawn to under certain planetary influences. For the novice astrologer, full explanations are given of the astrological signs, planets, and aspects so that the relationship formulas can be clearly understood. For the more experienced, examples using famous couples' charts are explained. One terrific bonus included with the book is a CD that makes it easy to analyze the dynamics in any relationship! Rakela encourages approaching relationship realistically but also with the tools that can help anyone be more self-aware in order to create the most happiness possible. As any counselor or astrologer knows, love and relationship are very compelling concerns for most individuals. This book is a wonderfully insightful piece that blends common sense with sound astrological principles so that readers can apply its wisdom to create more fulfilling lives.

Is love a mathematical formula?,

This review is from: The Love Relationship Formula: Predicting Romantic Success with Astrology (Paperback)
The title of the book kept my interest and I thought it would provide me with the Golden Grail in analyzing love relationships. Not so... The love formula is about 15 astrological combinations, call it a pattern, describing relationships. The more combinations are present in favorable aspects, the better. The formula can be used in composites, marriage charts, solar returns etc. Christine Rakela has done a wonderful job in presenting synastry in another way, even if the 15 combinations are nothing new!
