Greatest Scheme Ever!!!, March 11, 2009
This review is from: Love Scheme (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was the first book that I ever read by Ms. Washington years ago. Since the initial, I have re-read at least 20 times (I actually have to buy another one because the book is falling apart). This is one of those books that everyone will love. I fell in love with the main characters, Duchess and Muhsin. So much so, that I think of these characters as actual people. As stated before, the story deals in loyalty, betrayal and most of all trust (and Love). While reading the story many truths are revealed and I felt as betrayed as Duchess (never saw it coming). Ms. Washington hits you with one thing, then when you think that's it, there's more. I have gone on to read books she has authored since Love Scheme. If you haven't placed Ms. Altonya Washington on your top authors' list, It's about time that you do (check out the Ramsey's series; will definitely have you hooked).

Love conquers all!, September 21, 2010
This review is from: Love Scheme (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
My first AlTonya Washington book was Hudson's Crossing which I enjoyed. So decided to try more of her books...Loved, loved , loved Muschin & Duchess story...Even though he was a schemer and not always a nice person he was a still a likeable character...It was trip what he did to Isaiah & Tia so evrytime I was ready to kick to the curb he would do or say something poignant to Duchess. Just goes to show, love covers a multitude of faults therfore Duchess had to forgive in order to have true happiness.

I thought this was very cute and not the everyday love story, April 6, 2009
This review is from: Love Scheme (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
While I'm a sucker for a love story I hate the sappy crap. That's not realistic at all. Men/women do not say the exact right thing at the exact right time all the time. Another thing that bothers me about the standard romance novel is the male protaganist is almost always saving the helpless girl in some form or another. This was not the case with Love Scheme. Duchess held her own in this book. I couild actually imagine her as a real person. She was strong and independent and also knew when to move and how to move. She also was not too strong to admit her mistakes. That was new and different. The damsel in distress role is so played. Mushin (sp) was the standard bad boy gone good but the way Altonya did it was actually quite interesating and unique. I know people won't agree with me here but I thought what he did was freaking brilliant and I took it as romantic. Granted, I wouldn't have gone back to him because the manipulation thing just doesn't work for me but that's neither here nor there. Overall, this was a good book and a great read. You could actually see how the relationship started and matured. you neever found yourself asking, "When did they actually fall in love?" You know when because you witnessed it. You can actually see Duchess and Mushin actually making it. Again, it was a very cute and realistic story and I look forward to reading more from Ms. Washington.
