"For The Love Of Scott",
By
This review is from: For the Love of Scott! (Paperback)
I started reading this book one evening and couldn't put it down until I finished it at 2:00 in the morning. This was a wonderful book that brought smiles to my face, tears to my eyes and opened my eyes to the medical world to know that I need to question mine and my family's treatments and that it is okay & necessary to ask until I get answers. I highly recommend this book. "THANK YOU" Jo Hamilton for sharing this story for your little brother!

Jo Hamilton does a wonderful job sharing the story of her brother Scott. "For the Love of Scott!" is a quick read that will hold your interest from the start to the finish. It will make you laugh, cry, cringe and feel the pain that this close-knit family endured. This should be a "must-read" for all individuals in the medical field.

This review is from: For the Love of Scott! (Paperback)
Loved it and think it is a must read for everyone because we all have experiences at one point or another with pharmacies, hospitals, doctors and nurses so the message is great! I'm sharing it with all my family members and close friends. And especially sharing it with friends and family members in the medical profession. The book has a great lesson to be learned by all. It will save lives!

Joys and Sorrows: Life,
By
This review is from: For the Love of Scott! (Paperback)
While I was reading FOR THE LOVE OF SCOTT, it felt as if I were listening to a storyteller. The author took me into an earlier time in Iowa where she grew up on a farm. The author had me commiserating with the tough times and situations yet laughing out loud at the antics between her and her brothers. This is what a great book does for me, gets my emotions involved. When Scott's rocky road began, it was a wonder to me as to how the author could pull me, body and soul, into his experience. Yet, she did, and kept me so soulfully present throughout the unbelievable journey that ensued. FOR THE LOVE OF SCOTT will capture your heart, take it into laughter and then onto the shores of sorrow. At the end, however, the author left me with that grain of sand called, "hope." I am a believer in gifts of spirit present in any tough situation. The author more deeply imbedded in me this belief.

Tragic and Telling,
By Leigh A Hurd (Haymarket, VA, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: For the Love of Scott! (Paperback)
Jo Hamilton does a wonderful job introducing her brother, family, and childhood. Just as you get to know Scott, you lose him...just like the Hamilton family did many years ago. While this is a tragic story for the Hamilton family, Jo finishes the story with a positive sense that changes are being made in the medical profession to prevent medication errors. I however, will continue to watch every move "they" make when it comes to my loved ones! Scott Hamilton can be proud of his family for putting a heart wrenching journey on paper.

This review is from: For the Love of Scott! (Kindle Edition)
The author sent me a very rough draft of her brother's story this summer. I was laughing and crying so hard that I had to call her after only 20 pages. It is "a must read." We even have a book club that pressed to go to Kindle earlier than planned. Jo and Scott will be like family when you put this down. For the Love of Scott!

An important read for everyone - it could be your story...,
This review is from: For the Love of Scott! (Paperback)
"For the Love of Scott" is a moving story that will make you smile, laugh, perhaps shed a few tears, and stay with you in a positive way. Jo Hamilton sets a colorful and humorous backdrop of growing up with 3 brothers in rural America and seamlessly transitions into the painful family experiences of needlessly losing a brother to a series of medical mistakes. The story is well told, with an excellent balance of reflective memories along with current day facts of continuing loss of life due to medical mistakes, that makes this a compelling "must read." This is a wake-up call for each of us to challenge/question Doctor's orders as well as those entrusted with applying those orders. It could mean the difference between life or death for our selves or loved ones. I am sharing this with friends, family and medical professionals.
