3.0 out of 5 stars Three stars, but some great stuff, and one masterpiece February 2, 2002
Format:Audio CD
I got this after hearing "Around 12:15." One of my all time favorites. The title song and Yearning for Love, an old Gap Band song if I'm not mistaken, are great too. The rest hasn't yet grabbed me the way those songs do. But I'd buy it just for them.
Note: I hate grade inflation. Others would probably give it four stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars an excellent contemporary jazz album... March 9, 2002
Format:Audio CD
Alex Bugnon's "Love Season" still sets a standard for modern jazz improvization and good prodcution even though it was made in the late 1980s. Along with the obvious jazz influence, there is a strong R&B dynamic, including covers of Brenda Russell ("Piano in The Dark") and Gap Band ("Yaerning for Your Love") songs. For the most part, the songs are beautifully crafted and don't drag on past their usefulness like many of the pop-jazz albums that followed this release.
Granted, everything on this album did not age well ("Magie Noir" and "Going Out" bookend this CD, and are as insipid as anything you would hear in a department store elevator) but it still is highly worthwhile. The title track and the R&B covers alone are impressive.

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD deserves 1,000 stars. January 15, 1999
Format:Audio CD
The title track is just outstanding. Alex really demostrates his talent on the Love Season track. Even my eight year old son fell in love with Love Season and all the other tracks on this CD. He now prefers to listen to only Alex Bugnon's music than his usual R&B Artists. Now that should be enough reason for anyone to purchase the Love Season CD without listening to it first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD!! December 7, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Alex Bugnon is jazz at it's best in my opinion. He operates the Fender Rhodes piano like it is an extension of himself. I simply love listening to this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Early stuff was good. October 19, 2013

Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Once again, I have purchased a CD for selected songs. "Around 12:15 a.m." was a standard rotational song when this area had a jazz station. His music is a good starting point for anyone interested in delving into the contemporary jazz genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ole Skool Cool April 15, 2012
By Sigolo
Format:Audio CD
I got this album back in 1989 while on active duty in Virginia. It is timeless cool jazz before its time. Improvisational skills of AB is impressive. 12156a.m. is one of my all time favorites and Piano in the Dark, and the Gap Band remake are well woth it.Aferwards hi albums were experimental. Maybe one song or so like Luther's Any love.He never developed his own soung like Bob James, Joe Sample where you just know automatically irs "him". such a talent got commercialized and promoted wrongly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mellow
I bought this CD for one song "Yearning For Your Love". I heard it at a wedding reception and inquired. Anyway, "Piano in the Dark" is good and the others are mellow.
