Silk is back with #4,
By J. Highsmith (Mitchellville, Maryland United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Session (Audio CD)
After reestablishing themselves after their last CD, "Tonight", Silk is back again, ladies and gentlemen, with their 4th CD, "Love Session". They had came out with a smashing debut CD with hits like "Lose Control", "Happy Days" w/Keith Sweat, "Freak Me" and "Girl U For Me". Their 2nd CD was backed up by the first single, "Hooked On You" but you didn't hear too much about Silk after that until they made their last CD, "Tonight". Songs like "Let's Make Love", "If You (Lovin' Me)", "Meeting In My Bedroom" and "Baby Check Your Friend" brought Silk back to some sort of respectability to people that may have forgot them. Their new CD, "Love Session", takes place where "Tonight" left off. If you are a fan of "Tonight", you will definitely enjoy this CD. The slow jam presentation is very much like the last CD and the majority of the production is handled once again by Darrell "Delite" Allamby for 2000 Watts Music. The 1st single "We're Callin' You" is definitely vintage Silk and 2000 Watts impressed me with how they made that song different from any slow jam that was on the last CD. The rest of the CD sounds similar, but if you are a fan of slow songs like I am, it won't really matter to the listener. Other gems include: The title track, "Don't Go" w/Tamar Braxton, "I'm Sorry", "I Didn't Mean To" and a nice remake of the Rick James and Smokey Robinson classic, "Ebony Eyes". The only song that most people will particularly not care for is "Nursery Rhymes", where Silk mixes in nursery rhymes with pleasing their women. 2000 Watts and Silk went a little too far with that one. Other than that, Silk gives their fans another CD to have in the collection. "Love Session" is definitely a must buy in my opinion.

Ladies and Gentlemen, learn your lesson.....,
By Maverick (Europe) - See all my reviews

Listen, by far this is one of the 'best' RnB albums that i've heard on this side of 2K. Lets go back to the basics, some of the fundamental side dishes of love making, lets talk about 'afterplay'. Musically this was extacy, you heard 'calling you', i know you felt that joint as much as it was overplayed on the radio. Remove your >> button and hold on tite too <<.Best tracks:- 'Ahh', 'afterplay', 'love session', damn it, i like them all. I rarely give reviews, but this time i had to.

This being Silk's third Cd, They are still keepin' it hot. This Cd comes with a variety, from getting you to your love sessions, keeping you with your love sessions, apologizing to your love, and then getting the Afterplay with your love. Everybody out there if your reading this review, go ahead and get the Cd, because you won't be sorry. Some suggested tracks are: Welcome 2 The Love Session, Were Callin you, Nursery Rhymes, Ebony Eyes, Ahh, Afterplay. - Now don't sleep go ahead and get the Cd.

LOVE MUSIC AT IT'S BEST,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Session (Audio CD)
This cd is absolutely great. Pretty much every track on the CD is good...I noticed some of the other reviews praised the songs but for some reason said that "Nursery Rhymes" was not so great...I felt that song was very very good, they found a way 2 make otherwise corny child songs sound Sexy and Lucious and perfect for 1 on 1 time with your lady. If you are a true R&B fan you WILL purchase this CD its a perfect investment.

i'm sorry is the best song,
By DAVE (Detroit, MI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Session (Audio CD)
one song everybody seems to overlook is the phenomenal "i'm sorry". this by far is the best and most beautiful song silk have ever done. this song alone is worth the price of the cd. it will make a grown man cry.this album is excellent. the highlights are "i didn't mean to," "i'm sorry," "ebony eyes", "treated like a lady," "don't go" and the intro "welcome 2 the love session". "nursery rhymes" is cool. one thing about this album which makes it stand out from the other silk albums is how the harmonies have been taken to the next level. they always had fantastic harmonies on every album...but on this one there are walls of sound and walls of voices! in this sense love session is the best album silk have done! what can i say...silk are the best. if you are an r n b fan get all their albums...especially "tonight" from 1999. you need this one though because "i'm sorry" is the best song ever!

Solid R&B album,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Session (Audio CD)
I don't usually by R&B 'slow jam' albums because they are typically boring and redundant. I was pleasantly suprised by this CD... not only can Silk really harmonize, but they are a break from the same ol slow jams you hear from the abundance of male R&B groups out there. I disagree with the review that says they brutalized Rick Jame's "Ebony Eyes". That happens to be one of the tracks I like best. They didn't try to copy Rick James, they took the song and made it their own, and they did a pretty good job at it!

I love the new album,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Session (Audio CD)
I must say that I am very pleased with the new album. I brought the album on yesterday and can't seem to put it down. If I had to pick my favorites, they would be 'Don't Go', 'I'm Sorry', and of course 'AHH'...also liked the remake of Ebony Eyes. Silk has always been my favorite male group and I am happy to see that they have kept up the tradition of making good music.

Silk is BACK!!!!!,

What can I say, Silk has done it again. I just picked up the new album today, and I can't stop listening to it. I love the new album, Love Session...my favorite cuts so far are:"Ebony Eyes", "Don't Go", "Were Callin' U", "I'm Sorry", and of course, "AHH". Please don't sleep on this album. As always, Silk has kept up their tradition of delivering a great album, despite the fact that they don't get as much publicity as the other male R&B groups out there. It is evident that this group is in the music business because they love to make music, not because of all the money and hype. I hope that everyone who reads this review will buy the album and support Silk. Let's help push them to the forefront where they need to be. I hope and pray that with this album, people will finally begin to realize what a great group Silk is.

Silk - Love Session,
By M.C. Ol' Skool (from the old school) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Session (Audio CD)
This album isn't their best. Producers Link and Delite handle most of the songs and some of them sound like their other produced hits ("I Didn't Mean To" sounds like Gerald Levert's "Nothin to Somethin", with the "Bennie and the Jets" piano riff and all). The good news, though, is that this time, all five members get ample time to sing instead of just Lil' G and Jon-Jon. The only really good songs are "I'm Sorry" (which could have used some more original lyrics), "Nursery Rhymes" and the remake of "Ebony Eyes". Actually, that version outdoes the Smokey Robinson/Rick James original! Unfortunately, Silk got dropped from their label because this album went wood and Lil' G went solo. Their new album, Silktime, is not worth checking at all so if you want some vintage Silk, their Best of Silk compilation should satisfy you instead.
