The quotes from those with AS were not very insightful. I don’t have my copy of the book anymore, but the excerpt had a quote that, to me, was quite indicative of how helpful and insightful the book was as a whole: On internet dating, an AS man says “I was looking on the internet. I wanted to be wanted. It is interesting, fun and exciting to be around someone. I also wanted sex.”
In other words, there isn’t much in the book that you wouldn’t be able to find for free on the first page of some Google searches and because her sample size was so small, there really wasn’t anything I found helpful though I did appreciate that she realized the shortcomings of her research. I like to think of those with AS as though they were a culture. They are individual, unique people who happen to share some major traits in common. In comparing AS to a culture, imagine if someone were to write a book on “Asian” culture, asked 30 Asians (age range from 20 to 70) on the internet who were not very articulate some random questions on love, sex, and long-term relationships, and imagine how helpful the results would be.Read more ›

Not helpful. When a person has sensory issues, to automatically assume the things the author assumed was not useful at all.Published 21 months ago by reuben
