Editorial Reviews

The fourth full-length studio album from Tim Hughes promises to be a stunner. Across the twelve tracks the Worship Central/Holy Trinity Brompton leader delivers a range of worship songs that are engaging, inspiring and sure to become church-essentials for many years to come. Produced by Martin Smith (Delirious?) and featuring a duet with Kim Walker-Smith (Jesus Culture) and guest appearances from Rend Collective Experiment and Jesus House Choir, this spring release is a natural successor to Tim's 2007 release `Holding Nothing Back'.

GMA Song of the Year Dove Award winning artist Tim Hughes releases his fourth, full-length studio album, Love Shine Through, on April 19th. Writer of "Here I Am To Worship," "Beautiful One," "Happy Day," "Jesus Saves," and many more modern worship anthems sung by tens of millions every week in worship services around the world, Hughes returns to the recording studio after a four-year hiatus. The album follows his acclaimed studio album Holding Nothing Back (2007) and live DVD/CD Happy Day (2009). The album starts with an epic song and the first single from the new album, "Counting On Your Name," which is one of my top songs of the year. The musical build and sincere vocals reminds me of the worship classic "From The Inside Out" by Hillsong UNITED. "The song captures so much of what faith comes down to; that we're nothing without God. We try to rely on so many things - finances, health, friendship, love, sex, happiness, whatever - but none of these physical things are eternal. Only God is the one we can really depend on...I hope the song captures a sense of desperation, a rawness, a sense of it being all or nothing," says Hughes.

"God Is Coming" really excites me as a worshipper and musically is one of my favorites on this great album, the most complete album by Hughes in my opinion. I would love to sing this song with fellow believers as the song has great energy and reminds me of "Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble" by Delirious? as Tim declares, "For my God is coming, We can hear the heavens roar, come on get ready for the glory of the Lord, Here You come, running to find me, King of the universe, Yes our God is a God Who saves." Tim is truly a gifted songwriter similar to fellow British worship artist Martin Smith from Delirious?

Tim Hughes is back with his fourth studio album, Love Shine Through. This comes after his previous studio album from 2007, Holding Nothing Back, and his latest live project from 2009, Happy Day. You will recognize Tim Hughes as the writer of many songs that are being sung in churches all over the world today; Here I Am to Worship, Beautiful One, Happy Day and Jesus Saves. This project included a lot of collaboration with other song writers and producers; Martin Smith and Stu G formerly of Delirious?, Phil Wickham, Ben Cantelon, Kim Walker-Smith of Jesus Culture, Michael Guy Chislet of Hillsong UNITED, and Nathan Nockels. I'm very familiar with Tim Hughes' songs that are used in church, but the only project of his that I own is the Live CD/DVD Happy Day. I was very excited to get the chance to listen to and review this project. With an artist like this, I tend to listen through the lens of what songs can be brought into the church and used effectively there. While I have no doubt that this project is truly an offering of worship to the Lord as it's full of lyrics being sung right to God; I'm counting on Your name, I'm trusting You're the way, how great is Your love, forever I will love You, You have won my heart and here I stand everything is Yours Lord, I believe there are a lot of parts of this album that is going to serve people in their personal worship time more than in the corporate worship settings in church. That is just as important though, as believe this album will be a huge blessing to a lot of people. The lyrics are fantastic and the vertical nature of this project is just what we need. I do think there are a few tracks that will find themselves in the corporate worship times of churches.

Jesus Saves: This one I know is already being used as it's not a brand new song.

Great music.
I like it especially because of lyrics - devotional texts.
It is a very nice Christian spiritual inspiration.

Tim Hughes is an amazing Christian artist. His Love Shine Through album just is just another example of his skill. Tim Hughes’s Love Shine Through album has great messages and great worship songs to sing to the Lord Jesus and our great heavenly Father. The songs of this album are mush longer, so it’s a true pleasure to enjoy the worship, messages and instrumental and cool sound qualities with the songs of this tremendous album. Counting on your name has some really cool instrumental qualities for the first 80 seconds or so and it’s just another reason to purchase this album. Also, songs like At Your Name, Keep the Faith and Ecclesiastes I find awesome. I would recommend the album for anyone. I love it, and I believe you will too. Add Love Shine Through to your collection. It’s worth every single penny.

I gave this CD to a family member so I really don't know much about it. I do like Tim Hughes and his songs always carry a great message of the gospel.
