Started well, but...,

This movie started well with a lot of interesting potential plots. However, somewhere along the way it just lost me. It meanders a bit too much and doesn't always seem sure of what it wants to be. It seemed at times that it was going to be a movie about gay relationships, but then at other times it's more about small town life. The lesbian character Linda just drops out near the end without any explanation. Worst of all, at the end of the movie two random gay guys kiss for no reason. It just doesn't make sense and contributes to the impression that the directors just hadn't settled one what they wanted the movie to be before it was released.

Great until the ending,

This movie wasn't quite what I expected. I liked all the depth of character and some of the issues tackled in it. I liked the actors as well. However, the ending really frustrated me. Until then, it was a really wonderful movie.

I went in expecting a chick flick. Little did I know...,

This movie is incredible in so many different ways. It definitely shakes up the romantic comedy formula in almost every respect. The actors, the plot, the twist(s), etc. This is a fantastic movie for women (I won't presume to guess what men would get out of it). With reflections on body weight, self-confidence, self-respect, everyone will be able to relate and hopefully get a boost from it. Despite the threads of sexuality in this film, its moral really lies in taking the chance to make yourself happy. It may be uncomfortably unfamiliar. It may require a lot of soul searching and sacrifice. But if you want to be happy, MAKE IT HAPPEN. The rest of it (and there is a lot more) is just icing on the cake.
This isn't the most enlightened or intellectual or well-acted or well-funded movies out there. And it sure as hell isn't glamourous or magical. But it's REAL in a way most movies aren't these days (other than the deus ex machina that you just can't rely on), and because of that it makes a huge, lasting impression. Also, don't expect to be 100% pleased with the ending. You'll probably be at least a little disappointed. But that's life! ;)

I'm a little biased when it comes to movies like this because I always root for the lesbian but in this case it just wasn't in the cards. Despite that downfall this movie was adorable. I don't think the guy deserved her though, because he was pretty shallow at first . But he came around so altogher a really sweet movie. Just makes you go awwwww at the end.

Also, would love to know who sings the theme song "Like I Would For U" that plays in the beginning and end of the movie. No artist listed in the credits, no soundtrack, and would love to find that song.

I had seen this movie previously and had enjoyed it. I had found difficulty finding it available then tried Amazon and found it at a very very low price which I was thrilled about. It didn't take too long to get to me and I've been satisfied with the product I received.
