Retrospective of Americana duo together and apart,
By
This review is from: Love Snuck Up (Audio CD)
This collection provides a retrospective of a husband-and-wife who succeed both as a duet act, and as solo artists. The fourteen tracks collect works from four of Buddy's solo albums, two of Julie's, and a half-dozen of their duet works. It's an impressive picture, with Julie's songwriting matched to Buddy's instrumental and producing talents, and the pair's voices intertwining Buddy's gruffer lower-register with Julie's girl-tinged alto. The mix of solo and duet works - all of which featuring both of their voices - show how effortlessly they can modulate their presence from foreground to background when allowing their partner to take the spotlight. Though their solo albums (particularly Buddy's "Poison Love") make more cohesive statements than this anthology, this is a superb place to get an appreciation of the duo's artistic arc. Fans who have the original albums will want to hear the scorching, unreleased take of "You Make My Heart Beat Too Fast."

Real Country Lives,
By
This review is from: Love Snuck Up (Audio CD)
I am not really a big Country fan especially the slick-overproduced rubbish coming out of Nashville for the last 20 years.
A friend dragged me to a see Emmylou Harrris backed by Spyboy with Buddy on guitar and the best Bass/Drum duo I've ever seen live. I was absolutely blown away by the band, sure Emmy was great but the 90 min warm up set had the whole place up rockin, they blew the roof off the place, Buddy is the most versatile guitar player I've ever seen, he can wail with the best but is also very tasteful and never stepped on Emmy's singing while she did her Red Dirt Girl/Wrecking Ball stuff. He played the original Daniel Lanios guitar parts MUCH cleaner & better than the studio version. He can also sing like an angel. A new fan and a convert.

The Harmony that exists between Buddy and Julie cannot be outmatched. This CD is excellent and provides the listener with a satisfying experience of Americana/Folk music. I've always been a fan of Buddy Miller and have several of his CD's, but with Julie added to this one, it will certainly become one of my favorites.

This serves as a good collection of their duets. I already had some of them, but the ones I did not have were definitely worth it. Do yourself a favor and pick up this disc.

I have always liked Julie and Buddy Millers music, it's great that they put out a cd of them singing all these songs together. The CD has a good variety of styles: pop, bluegrass, country, with excellent harmonies.

The dynamic Duo! Chill bump raising vocal harmony. The covers they do show what excellent listening tastes they have. "Wallflower" and "Keep Your Distance" are extremely well done and I usually prefer the real thing when it comes to Dylan and Richard Thompson! The originals are stunning. "Quecreek"(Julie Miller) sounds like an incredible old traditional classic. If you like this kind of music this is the top of the heap. All of the songs are different and well sequenced. It will be something that you won't listen to a few times and then forget it.

A Kid's Review

I'm not joking. Budddy's my mother's brother, so I love all his stuff. This CD was made by Hightone Records when he and Julie were leaving them. My favorite song on it is probably either "Take me back", or "Out in the rain". It is a repetition of songs from their other albums, mostly their duet album, called "Buddy & Julie Miller".

Not much new,
This review is from: Love Snuck Up (Audio CD)
I love Buddy and Julie Miller, but this cd has mostly already released songs. I probably should have checked but online it's hard to see the playlist. If you don't have all their other cds, this would be great. If you do, it's repetitive.
