This review is from: Love Songs from the Apocalypse (Audio CD)
The best kept secret of this record is the hidden track, "My Dog God", sometimes played on Austin radio, it's a sarcastic little barb aimed at those that would use "God" as a weapon, instead of an instrument of love. So, we start with this track and work backwards... next is "Farther Along", the old gospel tune that is done the most justice of the covers on this record. Nicole Storto's vocals are in the pocket and I feel like I'm sitting in a Baptist church, circa 1975 in a small Tennessee town, but yet, I feel the song has a deeper message in these times of men in power "never molested, but in the wrong"... (see Ken Lay).

The standout tracks are "Promise Me Nothing", "How Do I Get Sane", and "Voyeur"... but the covers are compelling.. Concrete Blonde's "Bloodletting/Vampire Song".. , then there's the Door's cover of a cover "Alabama Song/Whiskey Bar" that brings a new light to the show tune.

"Railroad Song" lets us know that "Religion is the Devil's tool, that keeps us fighting like soulless fools.. until he owns every heart in this world" and you feel the Apocalypse coming on, and you just want to say "STOP" in the name of love.....
