The best from a truly musical songbird!,

Most pop fans know Williams from her mega-selling "Let's Hear It for The Boy" from the "Footloose" soundtrack, along with her hit duet with Johnny Mathis, "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late." However, Deniece Williams had R & B and pop success during the late 70's and early 80's with a series of love ballads and mid-tempo tunes, found on this album.
"Free" comes from her first album, "This is Niecy," and it is the perfect introduction to the singer, along with a cry of independence as it was the first song that she released after being a background singer in Stevie Wonder's Wonderlove. "Now is the Time for Love," hailing from the same album is also presented on this disc. "Baby, Baby, My Love's All for You" is pulled from her second album, "Songbird," and it is a nice mid-tempo tune with a strong male vocal accompaniment. Williams' second album, "When Love Comes Calling," is highlighted by the inclusion of the title cut, the dance-friendly "I Found Love," and one of her best songs, the riveting "Why Can't We Fall in Love?" However, four cuts that are on this album are culled from her exemplary 1981 album, "My Melody": "What Two Can Do," "You're All that Matters," and the fan favorites "Silly" and the title track from that album. The album is rounded out by the aforementioned duet with Mathis and "Waiting," taken from Williams' 1982 offering, "Niecy." In a time when pre-packaged vocal ingénues are ruling the airwaves and websites, it is refreshing to find an artist with an uncompromising and truly genuine talent and this disc showcase Williams at her best.

For true Deniece Williams fans this album will warm your heart. Of special note is the inclusion of the song "Why Can't We Fall in Love?". I've been searching for this song for years since the orignal album "When Love Comes Calling" went out of print. The combination of a fantastic arrangement and Deniece singing at the top of her form is worth the price of the CD by itself.

Hi, I think Niecey's the best. I've loved her since I was a kid. I appreciate her more now. With the artists today, it seems like anyone can make a song. There aren't too many really talented artists out here now. "You're All That Matters" is a particularly touching song to me. When I thought me & my boyfriend were breaking up, it came on the radio & I cried like a baby. I still cry to this day when I hear it! Can anyone tell me where I can find lyrics to Niecey's songs? Thanks in advance.
